Leigh on Sea - Legra Pale | 3.80 | ![]() | Very good head and lacing on this local brew from Leigh on Sea Brewery just some 15 minutes' trot away, and lasting throughout. This microbrewery was founded in 2017 and has its own taproom which features in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. A very fruited hoppy first bite. A good hoppiness rising and a grapefruit flavoured fruitiness carrying out somersaults on my taste buds. A moreishly hoppy bitter dryness lingering before its final passage and aided by its Maris Otter and Torrified Wheat malts. This is an American style pale ale that is dry-hopped with Citra hops. It was Leigh on Sea Brewery’s first brewed beer (in August 2017) and now their best selling and most awarded. The brewery worked out that Legra was an anagram of lager but has remained so named! |

The pub is found in Eastwood, Essex, SS9 5PX.
The Bellhouse dating from the 15th century and by all accounts, it was King Henry VIII's hunting lodge, is at Eastwood, north of Leigh-on-Sea, at 321 Rayleigh Road. It is well set back from Rayleigh Road for it not to be too intrusive. It is a Shepherd Neame house with much of it set out for dining on a visit in early September 2025. Two real ales on, unsurprisingly one from Shepherd Neame, and pleasingly the other from the local microbrewery, Leigh-on-Sea Brewery, some 15 minutes’ trot away and set off Progress Road. Still retaining its wooden beams in the traditional bar area and flagstone flooring giving it that olde worlde feel. The areas around are laid out for dining and the so-named “children’s room” is the disabled/baby changing facility. Dog-friendly certainly outside the dining areas that were visited.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
