31 Jan 2026 (Hogan Sampling)
4th stop of the Horsham outing: Packed to the gills meant my early evening visit was literally a quick step inside to survey the three cask ales on. There was barely anywhere to stand never mind sit after the long walk from the Foresters Arms in the far-flung outskirts of Horsham. It appeared to be nicely restored on the inside in an early-20th century style with dark wooden shelving as part of the bar-back and the bar itself similarly looking the part from that time. I would perhaps come again but much earlier in the day as certainly two on, on this visit I have not sampled before, the brown and the stout.

About The Anchor Tap

Website.

The pub is found in Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 1HL.

This free house at 16 East Street in Horsham’s town centre was built in 1898 and was the 'tap' of the Anchor Hotel at 3 Market Square. In January 1975 a Horsham branch of CAMRA was formed at The Anchor Tap. After being shut for 30 years, it was reopened in February 2016 by Dark Star Brewery. The sale of that brewer to Fuller's in March 2018 meant the pub became free-of-tie. It is reported that The Anchor Tap’s launch in 2016 was such a success with “shoppers and beer lovers alike . . . that a one in, one out policy was adopted at the door.” An end of January 2026 visit proved it was just as popular! It was confirmed there are 3 cask ale lines on, and although not confirmed, there are said to be some 13 gas assisted beers and so offering customers an eclectic choice of brews in total.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 0 of them.
