4th stop of this Billingshurst outing: A few in early afternoon and all of them drinking rather than dining. Presented as a wet-led pub unlike the other two pubs in the centre of Billingshurst and not including the micropub. One gentleman in was kilted but perhaps not for a wedding as is often the excuse to wear a kilt. Pleasant welcome and immediate service and a good choice of seating in the immediate bar area, including bar stools and table seating.

Titanic - First Class3.80ExcellentVery good head and lacing presented and lingering well on this Staffordshire session bitter from Burslem, about 2 to 3 miles north of Stoke-on-Trent. A very malty first hit with biscuity notes. A hoppy bitterness rising from its gentle herbal hops. While not listed for First Class, Titanic frequently uses classic British hops such as Goldings in its other traditional core ales, such as Plum Porter and Classic Mild, to achieve herbal and spicy profiles. A biscuity malty note or two with caramel-infused fruitiness winning over and sliding down. Certainly, in superb nick with its natural carbonation living on and very moreish to my taste buds.

The pub is found in Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 9QS.

This Grade II listed pub dating from the 17th century has two bars and oak beams throughout. To the rear the pub has a large terraced garden. The function room is now a venue for live music and comedy. There are three handpumps serving one regular beer and two rotating guests. The freehold owner according to the local CAMRA branch is Heineken UK. The cask ales seen on a visit in January 2026 were Titanic Brewery’s First Class and Sharp’s Brewery’s Sea Fury, and it gave the impression of being very wet-led with not a mention of food on signage or on its website. Appealingly, its website states: “Come and join us for a drink and a natter whether the sun is shining or the rain is pouring. You are always welcome here at the Arms.”

We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
