5th visit of Reading and its environs: Sorry to see that there was no real ale on. There was a hanging sign over one of the handpumps advertising a canned beer. I left it that. The pub was very quiet indeed with no sign of anyone even in for dining early Saturday lunchtime although there is a separate dining area by all accounts.

About The Ferryboat

Website.

The pub is found in Whitchurch-on-Thames, Berkshire, RG8 7DB.

Sadly, the Ferryboat was not doing any real ale at all on a visit at the end of February 2026. A couple of handpumps were tantalisingly on display on the bar. The CAMRA branch listing has hopes it might provide one real ale by suggesting this is on in this historic 18th century country pub in the small riverside village of Whitchurch-on-Thames in the High Street and a few yards from the toll bridge. CAMRA adds that drinkers can still feel comfortable in the main bar area despite and an emphasis placed on dining.

We have visited this pub once, seen 0 different beers and tried them all.
