Overview

Hello, I'm JeffnJo. I started using this site on the 10 Feb 2009 and since then I've made 19 pub visits, tried 38 different beers and visited 11 different pubs.

About Me

Jeff and Jo met in 2003 and have been scooping beers and hunting out cool pubs ever since! Favourite brewers are Dark Star, Thornbridge, Larkins (Porter) but we like innumerable beers from around the UK. We prefer light beers and dark beers usually 4% and above. We are also good friends with a french brewer "No-no" Noel Lepoix who has a small Brasserie Artisanale in Montier-en-Der in the Champagne area. The town has a Festival des Brasseurs in August at which we were delighted to be invited to judge in the 'brune' category in 2008. Like the UK microbrewing is on the increase but still a way behind us. We are based in East Sussex where good pubs seem to be few and far between, and in the heart of Harvey's country. Pity we don't like Harvey's Sussex!). UPDATE AUGUST 2010: Life goes on and new beers get discovered and consumed... Its 3 years now at the Festival des Brasseurs in France. We have judged now in the Amber and Blanche categories. This year 26 brewers were there, the sun shone and it was 2 days of great times.... pity the French haven't the urge to hop their beers well though. Emphasis is on wheat and barley malts and yeasts. Craig Allan (yes he's a Scot, in Picardy) did win the Special category with a hopped beer. I sense the tide will turn. DS and Thornbridge remain in our faves but these have been joined by Brewdog, Marble, Saints & Sinners and others along the way. Pub-wise, our engouragement means the Royal Oak in T Wells has a Dark Star regular (though their current dabble with Cottage is a shame). The Salehurst Halt invariably has 2 Dark Stars and has also dabbled with other brewers of note. Ogi serves his beer really well. The Halfway House at Brenchley continues to disappoint by refusing to stock the occasional barrel of 'superior' beers. It was West Kent POTY but there isn't much opposition.
