Visits Details

01 May 2015 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Still closed, since just after my turn of the year 2014/2015 visit. Outside board still says freehold for sale but several local pubs had rumours that a local brewery has bought this fine house.

Evening. Small crowd in back bar turned out to be the Guv's family. Bad news here - current tenants leaving Saturday 3rd January for pastures new in Marple (Hatters Arms) and they know of no planned replacements. On the market for £175,000 plus VAT. A fantastic physical building must have a great pub future with right marketing.

Evening. Tried very hard to support local Cheshire breweries. Only customer in and good chance to talk to the Polish landlady about how easy or difficult it is to become multi-lingual. Lovely nooks and crannies pub - absolute gem.

The pub is found in Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK11 6LB.

A pub hidden in Church Street on a cobbled lane just at the top of Waters Green, an area within a couple of minutes' walk of the railway station. In CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors with a plethora of nooks, crannies and rooms. Has been at risk for some time - was closed for some time until new tenants took over - a Polish family and it was run by the owner's wife and her brother until they moved out in very early 2015 and the premises were then empty again. A multi-roomed gem - take a look around to see lots of shapes / sizes / bits and pieces. Closed and on the market for quite a few years from early 2015 then against all odds thankfully re-opened on Friday 24th September 2021.

We have visited this pub 15 times, seen 20 different beers and tried 12 of them.
