Jane and I had an afternoon to ourselves so we can for a walk on the hill and a pint in the pub. I've not been here for a while but little has changed. Lovely little place in the woods.

Saturday evening - almost empty - rather a sad feel to the place.

Hadn't been to Perry Wood for well over a year. 3 beers on draught. Tried the Harveys Sussex, which I have invariably tried on previous visits but it was poor and lifeless. Attempted the Adnams Southwold Bitter, but this too suffered from lack of regular volume to keep it fresh.

Went for a picnic in the woods whilst the weather was still good enough and decided to pop in for a half on the walk back. Pub garden was quite busy but we got a seat fine.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hepworth - Sussex Pale Ale3.60GoodNice. Pale orange-gold. Nice orange peel notes and a leafy hop finish. Vaguely reminiscent of Goacher's Light
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00Not TriedHad a sip of Jane's and it tasted very good.

Here with my folks for lunch. Great atmospheric weather outside with autumn leaves, heavy grey skies, shafts of sunlight and showers. Pub got busy around 2pm.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExcellentExcellent condition. All you'd want from Harveys except, perhaps, for a bit of fruit it can sometimes have.
Adnams - Southwold Bitter3.70GoodExcellent condition. The initial flavours were really good; red berry and tangy malt. The finish was good and hoppy in a pepperynettly way.

Here for a meal with my parents. This is one of my favourite pubs in Kent. A few years ago Goacher's Mild was a regular but now they have a rotating guest beer instead. The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00GoodNice pint of Harvey's
Keltek - Golden Harvest3.60AcceptableHazy pale golden colour. Smelt of diacetyl. Buttery lemon flavours. Tart and dry.

The archtypical pub in the woods. As usual, we sat out in the garden, enjoying the fitful sunshine.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Milk Street - RA4.30ExcellentI asked the lady behind the bar if they'd got Goachers mild, she said it would be back, but they were revolving milds, and that this was in the mild slot. Not sure if it was a mild, but put me in mind of Rayments AK of many years ago. Golden honey, with an almost butterscotch texture and a suprisingly pronounced hoppy afterburn. Good to historic.
Loddon - Ferryman's Gold4.40AcceptableA golden ale which seemed to be a bit tired and unfocussed. When I went back to the bar for replenishments, it was no longer on.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00Not TriedUnusual for me to pass this one by

Jane, Isabel and I sat outside in the garden and had some lunch. The sun was shining and the apple blossom and blue bells were out. Great pub this with very friendly staff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild3.40ExcellentHad smoky bacon crisps about it. Excellent beer. A credit to the mid 3% brigade of beers.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentLots of fruity esters in this. Real orange peel and mandarin orange juice. Good earthy (but fuity) hop bite on the finish. Top stuff
