Tasting Summary
These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Andrew | | 19 Aug 2023 | Fruity, perhaps a hint of vinegar |
Andrew | | 08 Dec 2018 | Outstandingly good. I just love this beer and this pint was in cracking form. |
Andrew | | 23 Sep 2017 | Had this on gravity (because something had happened to the beer engine) and through the beer engine. Interesting what a difference a sparkler makes. |
Andrew | | 21 Feb 2015 | Pale gold in colour. Hint of biscuit. Crisp. Mandarin. Just great. |
Andrew | | 23 Jul 2007 | Pale gold and creamy in the mouth. Great lemon and grapefruit bitterness. |
Andrew | | 28 Jan 2006 | Summer hay flavours with a good buscuity malt and loverly light syrupy hop finish. |
Cam | | 07 Jan 2005 | Hoppy and light |
Andrew | | 02 May 2004 | A surprise as my first thought was I wouldn't like it. What a mistake that was |

Andrew | | 16 Apr 2016 | Great buscuit malt and hop combo. |
Cam | | 16 Oct 2015 | Delightfully hoppy but with a hint of mellow floweriness. Not top of the barrel, but one of those rare beers (like Goacher's Light) that is wonderful at any stage of its life. |

Martin the Mildman | | 04 Jun 2012 | Amazingly when I checked this beer, I had not sampled it before. Pale bitter with a good mix of malt, hop and fruitiness. Biscuity malt to start, finishing with fruity hop. My score 16/20. |

ChrisE | | 15 Mar 2011 | A pale ale served through a tight sparkler. I should have asked for a top up, but I decided to drink my beer and head for the tram stop. |

Ian | | 30 Oct 2007 | I had a sip of it and it didn't taste right, nor did it look right either. They didn't take it off, but did give me another beer without any fuss. |

Ian | | 20 Oct 2005 | Golden with thin white head. Nice citrus hop nose, grapefruit and nettle. OK in mouth, not too much body. Then aggressively hop citrus finish, almost peppery |

First brewed by Nottingham Brewery in the 1800's as a refreshing quaffing ale for the thirsty factory workers in the city. Slightly paler than traditional bitter beers of the time it was the forerunner of the India Pale Ale for which the brewery was to become famous and transported thousands and thousands of gallons to the troops of the British Empire all around the globe.
