Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Hogan SamplingExcellent08 May 2026 5th beer of the festival visit: Outstanding head and lacing and staying the whole performance on this amber-coloured bitter from the Hadrian Border Brewery set up in 1994 and now located in a custom-built facility in Newburn, an outer village and residential district within the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. A very toffee-infused bitterness in the first bite from this English session bitter. A hoppiness rising from its Whole Cone English Hops to aid its clean bittering and classic floral and herbal touches lending crisp citrus and light pine flavours for me and joining its malted barley lending it sugars and foundational grain aiding its sweet, nutty breadiness and light biscuit flavours. A dry hoppiness saddling out. Served in fine fettle but perhaps a touch too sweet for my taste buds.
