These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Ian | | 14 Jul 2007 | 2007 version. Cask had BBE 12/03/2008. Strong alcohol and a bit syrupy. Decent hop on finish but more muted than other vintages I’ve had. Good raisin fruit. Malty/raisin up front, then dry hop on finish. More earthy and less grapefruity than I expected. Still got plenty of hop though. Needs time to mature. |

Ian | | 27 May 2006 | Badged as Crabble Mill Vintage Miller's Ale 2005, this tasted to me, like Fuller's Vintage Ale 2005. Aroma of syrup and molasses, some hop. Hoppy and full in mouth with toffee, treacle and brown sugar. Lovely |

Ian | | 18 Jan 2006 | Couldn’t believe it when I found this on draught here. I got the last half out of the barrel which had been on for 2 weeks according to the bar staff. So I wasn’t expecting too much. Chestnut with thick cream head. Even still the biscuity raisin strong alcohol burn comes through. Tastes of sherry. Just slightly tired maybe, but this is a hell of a beer. If this is 8.5% then I’m a Dutchman. Must have matured and got stronger in the barrel. Amontillado sherry toffee flavour. Massive beer, big, brutal and warming with some choc malt. Some honey. I feel like I could be here all night and not list all of the flavours. Ginger, biscuit on the aroma. And then a Leonard Cohen cover came on the stereo.... |
