2nd visit of this outing to Broadstairs: Just opposite the Four Candles which shut on 31st December 2025 after being Thanet’s first-ever micropub, is this sizeable old Victorian pub on the corner of Sowell Street and St Peter's Road. In walking past the Four Candles now stripped of all its external signage, I was invited by the workman on site to come in and have a look around. I declined as was café-bound for a breakfast in Broadstairs’ High Street. He did though tell me it was re-opening as a micropub with two handpumps on and to be named Trigger’s Broom, based on a scene in tv sitcom, Only Fools and Horses, where the character, Trigger, was awarded a medal by his local council he road-swept for in claiming he had used the same broom for 20 years. In the scene, Trigger explained over all those years he had 17 new heads and 14 new handles. When asked how it can possibly be the same broom, he simply asks, "Well, here's a picture of it. What more do you want?" A good few in the Albion Inn but with no diners in evidence. A mix of bar stools, very comfy looking couches and standard tables and chairs. Friendly attentive service with three cask ales on, including two local ales from west of Ramsgate and just outside Manston Airport.
| Shivering Sands - Maunsell Bitter | 4.00 | | Named after the historic offshore anti-aircraft towers designed by Guy Maunsell and built during the Second World War to defend the United Kingdom from air and naval attacks, it came with a very good head and lacing and lasting all the way on this dark amber session ale. A very dry bitter first bite with a hint of spice or pine coming at me. A moreishly hoppy bitterness rising with lime, apple, melon, berry, and cedar flavourings all merging on my taste buds. It presents a dry bitterness accompanied by a fruit-infused hoppiness lent by its blend of US-style hops providing its "American twist" loaded with fruitiness. A dry bitterness prevailing aided no doubt by its fruity English ale yeast. A touch of malty caramel getting in on the act from its caramel-style malts lending it a bready sweetness. A very tasty dry hoppiness ebbing out with the tide made it quaffable. Served in top nick. |

Busy but not overly so for early evening and prompt service.

Welcomed by a live band on my first visit to this quaint and highly restored backstreet Victorian gem of a pub. Full of appreciative customers. Got served straight away by cheerful barmaid.
| Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Pirate's Pet | 4.50 | | Only sampled a half but could have kept on with it as very moreish, this chestnut beer. Superb head, too. I think the best beer of my day! |
| Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Cheeky Monkey | 4.00 | | Very healthy look to it and tasted just great, this golden ale. |

Spotted 4 ales on and a big crowd eating steak. Pub has been done up and looks good. The Norweign Blue was good according to my fellow drinkers.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - ÜberHop | 5.20 | | Far too flat and lacking flavour. |

Mike the landlord was behind the bar of the Albion opposite having taken over as temp Management. One beer on here, Four Candles ale at £3.60 a pint. 40p more than his own pub.
| Four Candles - Triple Hop Session | 3.60 | Not Tried | |

Evening. First visit here. For me the bright airy bistro style seemed out of place in this area of town. Couple of other customers.
| Caledonian - Old Seadog IPA | 5.20 | | The barmaid pulled some through into a jug then served mine. Still too warm and pretty awful beer. If this is IPA style then I am a chinaman (ah so!). I could detect no bitterness so Caledonian please stick to your malty mixes but leave the epithet IPA to others |
| Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Best Bitter (use Marston's entry now please) | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

Myself and a friend were trying to find some live music on a Sunday afternoon and this was our last resort. Haven't been here in years and its completely different inside. Part pub and part trendy wine bar, but it works I really liked it.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | I had forgotten how bloody good this beer can be, fantastic. |
| Sharp's - Coaster (or Cornish Coaster) | 3.60 | Not Tried | |

We had been in the Four Candles which is directly opposite this pub, and decided to pop in here for a bite to eat, I had never been in here but I liked it and intend to come again.
| Wantsum - Green Hop Fuggles | 4.50 | | I was surprised to find this in here, a very fresh tasting and enjoyable pint. |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
