My first visit to this fine old pub made out of what looks like a row of farming cottages and partially white weather-boarded at the front and strikingly with 3 separate front doors to enter by. I think our party of four made it through the one door that was propped open due to the sun continuing to blaze down for our late afternoon arrival. It only took us an hour and 40 odd minutes from Cowden village as struggled to find the footpath out of the village and got slightly waylaid on a disused farm due to a sign indicating it was private farmland only to rediscover the small print underneath saying also a public footpath. Three of our party of four flopped down at a table close to the bar to quench their thirsts before we built up the steam to find the rear garden and one of its many benches. What a view, overlooking a vast valley and a great panorama of greenery and said to be looking out towards the Ashdown Forest on the horizon. A warm friendly welcome and busy on the inside and out but served very attentively. It was worth it for just the view and to sit down but a local Larkins' ale really added to this second pub visit of the day's outing.

This local brewery's bitter came with very good head and lacing. A fruit-infused hoppy first hit. A moreish hoppy bitterness then rose up and lingered from those Kentish hop varieties of Goldings, Bramling Cross and Whitbread Goldings and all grown on the Larkins' farm at nearby Chiddingstone.

Pub 10, and the end of the Larkin's tour. Respectable working class pub. I like it.

Although there is always Harveys available I stick with the Larkins as it is consistently good and rarer to find elsewhere. Good flavour for a weak beer
In Cow Lane, main bar with separate dining areas and large garden and car park.
We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 4 different beers and tried 1 of them.
