Thwaites - Nutty Black | 3.30 | Sweet and malty with hints of toffee and chocolate and low hop rate. My score 16/20 despite being served too cold and therefore awarded a "B" for quality. |
Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Downton - Dark Delight | 5.50 | Near black bitter. Malty and deep with a spicy roasted malt nose. A bit astringent after a while + a pint was enough. | |

Morrissey Fox - Proud of Pubs Best | 4.20 | Surprisingly excellent offering. Ruby in colour, with a thick, creamy head, this bitter starts out malty but has a lovely sweetness to the finish. Nice mouthfeel, and not much hops. One for Dark Mild or Mild lovers to seek out. | |
Sharp's - Atlantic IPA (now replaced by 4.2% Atlantic) | 4.80 | Not really hoppy enough for a true IPA in my opinion, this is nontheless a pleasant, copper-hued beer with a light, tasty body tha would make a great session beer. | |
Cairngorm - Nessie's Monster Mash (superseded by 4.1% version) | 4.40 | Mahogany coloured, smoky bitter with a full body. |

The pub is found in Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 3DL.
Unassumingly elegant Victorian era Grade II listed pub situated just behind Leeds Town Hall in Great George Street. Closed early 2020 with planning permission subsequently given to build student accommodation on upper floors and retain pub on ground floor so watch this space.
We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 20 different beers and tried 6 of them.
