Mid afternoon fairly busy with a fair few around the bar including an Iron Pier rep chatting with the guv. I couldn't resist chiming in and advocating their beers to which the guv was most appreciative. Nearly 10 years since my last visit and still a proper locals back street boozer, looks exactly the same as the photos taken by ChrisE 15 years ago.
| Exeter - Avocet Ale | 3.90 | | A subtle sweetness combined with a peppery spicy flavour gave this average ABV beer the full bodiness of something stronger. |
| Downton - Quadhop | 3.90 | | Creamy, dry, bitter fare finished with a hoppy kick. |
| Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood then at Banks's) - Gravity (was Bitter) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |

A small St George’s Day beer festival is underway and this pub is busy at lunchtime ahead of football at Kingsmeadow. So busy that I don’t find time or space for a Pie & Mash lunch.
| Park - Rhythm Stick | 7.20 | | A full-on, pale gold IPA. So good that, once found, I stick with this one rather than playing the beer festival game. |
