Great traditional backstreet pub, a little out of town, but well worth the walk.
10 hand pumps on, apparently 5 are usually available:- Dark Star Hophead, Ringwood Fortyniner, Andwell Gold Muddler, Hopback Summer Lightning and "Fullers" London Pride!!!. Guest beers today are Weltons Swing Low, Weltons Broadwood Wassail, Hopback GFB, Broken Bridge Red Alert and Plain Ales Inncognito. Also Thornbridge Jaipur as a "craft" keg. Bar staff offered a taster, with a smile.
Hum of groups of people eating curry (Monday's only) and drinking, with a gas fire blazing away in the main bar.
Well worth its reputation.

Early evening. Most tables had drinkers seated around them whilst a band was setting up in one corner. Normal extensive range of regular and guest beers. I did not take note of the regulars but I think I have remembered the guests.

19 Apr 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy with locals and a visit from the Thursday evening drinking club.
Palmers - Copper Ale | 3.70 | | A good traditional English bitter, copper in colour of course, with bitter flavour to the fore but also some malt balance. My score 15/20. |
Andwell - Spring Twist | 4.20 | | An amber bitter with a bittersweet character. Moderate hop flavours with a little citrus fruit give way to a dryish finish. My score 15/20. |
