A few in when we arrived about noon for a Sunday roast which proved to be very tasty and well presented. The service was good too. By the time we left near 2pm the placed was packed with diners and with some at the bar.

Beer festival on here with about 14 casks in the garden. Lots of diners but not many patronising the beer festival.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Busy with a group of mild drinkers visiting.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - XX Dark Mild (or Sussex XX Mild)3.00ExcellentBack on form here with the juicy combination of berry fruits, grainy malt and a hint of toffee to produce a full flavoured mild for its strength. This was ordered specially and is not normally available here. My score 17/20.
Harvey's - Hadlow Bitter3.50GoodHoppy bitter with a grainy maltiness. My score 15/20.

Arived just after midday and found a handful of locals already in. A large real fire was burning and it seemed a very pleasant pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Old Ale (or Sussex XXXX Old Ale)4.30ExcellentDark ruby coloured beer. Burnt sugar flavours with some red fruit and that unmistakable Harvey's yeast. No sourness though which I always though was a defining feature of an old ale. Oh well.
