Always really busy and this was no exception, I just about got an end of the bar to lean on whilst I had my half. Came back on the Sunday when it was slightly less busy. Good feel to this pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild3.40ExcellentMy favourite mild.
Peerless - Triple Blond4.20AcceptableHazy gold thin beige head. Decent hoppy blond beer. Good hop bite in the mouth and some earthyness. Pretty good finish.

Third stop on my mini Friday afternoon crawl of Dale Street. Now fully re-opened and still just as good. Great bars on both sides plus a great rear wood panelled room. Lots of people interested in the racing from Ascot plus office workers leaving work early on a Friday. I stood at the bar and chatted to the barman. They had Schneider Brooklyner Weisse on tap, even at £5 a pint a steal. Big dumb and stupid, but one of my favourite beers. Not on cask though

The lovely old building is being restored as they found asbestos in it. The pub has moved into the building at the rear as a temporary measure.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Whittington's - Bow Bells3.90PoorCopper colour with lasting beige head. Slightly earthy bitter, some fruit and malt. Bit home brewery. Very earthy. Bit like a bad bottle conditoned ale. Really quite poor.

Late lunchtime on Thursday and pretty much empty to be honest, but still a cracking pub. Beautiful and exterior and interior and friendly staff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Beartown (latterly part of Manning Brewers) - Bruin's (was Bruins Ruin)5.00ExcellentPale chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Bit of sickly malt on aroma, but mostly rich strawberry/raspberry and malt aroma. Full in mouth with more strawberry, morphs into creamy hop finish. Hop is balancing and shows some lemon acids to do battle with the rich malt. Rich and hoppy premium bitter and rather stunning.

My first time in this pub and I had to wonder why I hadn't been here before. Service was very friendly and excellent and so were the locals.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Holden's - Freddie Febrio4.50GoodGold colour with lasting thin white head. Decent citrus hop aroma. Pretty good pale malts in mouth. Some rounded stone fruit, soft flesh in mouth. Good balancing citrusy hop finish. Very good gold/blond beer. Everyone seems to do one, but this is good. Bit of tangerine on finish. Excellent.
Battledown - Nobody's Fool4.30GoodPale chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Lovely malty beer with great depth. Dry malt. Some hop on end. Delivers a crisp finish. Good lacing down the glass shows the condition. Well put together beer.
Okell's - Spring Ram4.20AcceptableCopper colour with lasting thick beige head. Some hop, some malt. Balanced in mouth with more citrusy hop pronouncing itself on finish. Little bit muddled maybe, but very drinkable.
