Late evening visit before next call for a train. Karaoke session in full swing and pleasingly found a single handpump with Harvey's on.

Evening late. Lights were on earlier and still on now with activity inside. Popped my head inside the open door but it is re-opening tomorrow and will not, at least initially, be selling any real ales.

Evening really to check out if real ale was sold. 4 handpumps all with clips turned round. No longer tied to Shepherd Neame and in fact no real ale sold. The John Smith's Smooth half was not very nice.

Early evening. Planned quicky betwixt trains but, whilst the swinging sign is still up, the front fascia signing has been painted over and there is a "Ground Floor For Sale" board up. Closed and future very uncertain.

Early evening. Whistlestop visit twixt change of trains. Guv behind bar was still in waistcoat and rosette garb fresh from Headcorn Morris May Day dancing earlier in the day. We had a brief chat about Micropubs and good beer and pubs.

Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70ExceptionalFirst rate. No great lover of Sheps but this yet another occasion here where it has been faultless. Would like to know the Guv's cellarmanship tricks

18:10 visit. Final call before the homeward bound bus. This is another "gem" of a Shep's pub, and not been here for a while. Great location, notable architecture, and, after dark, good music and vibrant atmosphere. Friendly staff. This visit, very quiet with the sun shining through the whole pub due to it's unique location.

The pub is found in Chatham, Kent, ME4 4RJ.

Once traditional Shep's pub formerly called The Alexandra Hotel, close to the railway station, actually built in the middle of a five road roundabout. A grand old late Victorian detached building with many fine, intact features. A very convenient stopping point for anyone coming/going via the nearby bus/rail services. Cream and light green pastel decoration. Worn wooden board flooring with coloured floor tiles around the immediate "stand at the bar" area. Small rear courtyard and smoking area. Upper rooms converted into flats in 2015. Since then whilst the pub has sported Shepherd Neame signage and remains ultimately in Sheps's ownership it is no longer tied to its products. 1 handpump only now but cask ale has been restored here.

We have visited this pub 10 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 3 of them.
