Visits Details

01 Jun 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Entranced to stay by the intense bitterness of the ales tried.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew York - A Problem Shared (collaboration with McColl's Brewery Evenwood)5.80ExcellentOutstanding extreme bitterness in a tongue rasping way and a full bodied ale to boot. Forced to have a second by its very bitter appeal
Arundel - Smash4.50GoodA light coloured ale with tongue rasping hop bitterness but some haze that was not pre-warned of
360° - Session IPA4.30Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Astryd3.80Not Tried
Lost and Grounded - Spring Protagonist4.40Not Tried
Left Handed Giant - Golden Mild3.40Not Tried
25 May 2024 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit. I look round and smile at how many are drinking flat cloudy keg - however did this trend come about.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Stewart - Cauld Reekie Stout (Superior)6.20PoorI mark as it was presented to me. Ruined by being pulled through the one defective handpump which needs to be repaired or not used. It pours a flat pint. After I had multiple decanted it between two glasses it came alive to what would have been a mark of 3½*
Track - Sonoma3.80Not Tried
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Tropical Deluxe3.80Not TriedNo indication of brewer's name on hand made pumpclip, luckily another customer elucidated me
Gun - Chummy Bluster4.40Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Bowie3.40Not TriedDuty reducer beer
Rooster's - Variation on a Theme4.30Not Tried
18 May 2024 (Philip Pirrip)

Vocation - Naughty & Nice5.90GoodChocolate stout poured through the duff handpump but some multiple decantings between two glasses brought this up to scratch

BeerABVScoreNotes
Burning Sky - Aurora5.60GoodIn good condition, just that I don't remember it being a cloudy ale before
Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout6.50GoodPouring from this defective handpump never helps. Full of flavour but even multiple decantings between 2 glasses brought little head or lacing
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Scapa Bere4.20AcceptableBrewed with Orkney barley. Little condition and virtually no head or lacing
Hammerton - N14.10Not Tried
