Afternoon visit. It seems packed, but after a while I realise that they are almost all in the same boisterous office party group. Suddenly they are gone, leaving just a handful of drinkers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - Gluteus Maximus6.50GoodFrom some form of keg. A hoppy Pale Ale.
London Fields - Short and ..... Stout4.30GoodKeggery. A slightly lightweight, dry, roasty Stout.
London Fields - Kell Lagerfields5.80AcceptableFrom keg. A hoppy Lager.

Brewing has at last returned to this site and a very different-looking taproom is open. Alas, the handpumps have been removed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - Corporate Jargon4.00GoodFrom keg and quite fizzy. A light, hoppy beer.
London Fields - Gluteus Maximus6.50GoodFrom keg dispense. Bitter fruit flavours - a US West Coast type IPA.

My annual visit to the Tap Room here to see if anything interesting is going on. It’s had a bit of a revamp since my last visit and there are a couple of Brooklyn beers on the bar (brewed who knows where) as well as London Fields beers (brewed who knows where) but no sign of anything brewing on site. The handpumps are lying idle today.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brooklyn - London Göse Dark5.50GoodFrom a keg of some kind. This is actually rather good. Dark brown, some toasted barley, a bit of salt. Tart.
London Fields - 3 Weiss Monkeys5.50AcceptableFrom a keg of some sort. Initially promising, cloudy Wheat Beer. But ended up tasting a bit chemical.
12 May 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Quite busy in the early evening. Part of what was the Brewhouse has been converted into additional seating for the Tap Room, and this was being used tonight for a ticketed live music event.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - Shoreditch Triangle IPA6.00ExcellentI’m not sure where they are brewing this these days, but it is still a very good, full-on IPA.

A couple of minutes’ walk away from the new Forest Road brewery, and the presentation of the beer here is more to my liking. London Fields continue to limp along on a small scale and this is probably the only reliable source of their beers just now.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - 3 Weiss Monkeys5.50GoodQuite a challenging beer.
London Fields - Broadway Blond California Pale5.00GoodA pleasant Blonde-style beer with US hops.

Too many rumours around about the demise of this brewery – apparently Rate Beer has listed it as ‘Out of Business’! So good to visit the Taproom for a pint and to have a chat with Jules about his plans for the coming months (including installation of a canning line, and a full licence for the Brewhouse Bar).

BeerABVScoreNotes

London Fields - Grapefruit Dead5.00GoodOn keg. An amber-coloured, hazy, fruit beer with grapefruit. Tart without being sour.

Early to mid-evening and the Tap Room at the brewery is quite busy. I took advantage of the third pint flights, one of cask beer and one of keg beer. All the kegs here are (I think) new-fangled Key Keg, rather than old fashioned Evil Keg.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - Hackney Hopster4.20ExcellentA golden, hoppy, Pale Ale. I think I can now start calling this a long-standing favourite of mine.
London Fields - 3 Weiss Monkeys5.50ExcellentOn keg dispense, and the fastest-selling beer here tonight. A turbid, yellow/gold colour. Hops and wheat in very good balance. Best hoppy wheat beer I’ve tried I think.
Gloucester - Galaxy5.20ExcellentGolden and a little hazy. Crazily over-hopped with Galaxy; one of the very best varieties around. Magnificent.
London Fields - Double IPA7.20ExcellentOn keg dispense, a cask version having run out. Amber-coloured. Depth of flavour. Hops, warmth, sweetness.
London Fields - Sour Cherry Stout6.00ExcellentOn keg dispense. A great blend of roasty, dry stout and sour cherry flavours.
Gun Dog - Booze Hound4.20GoodAmber-coloured. Smooth. Nice malt and hops blend.

The sixth London brewery I have visited this weekend – they seem to be around every corner these days. Bustling in here in mid-afternoon. Five cask beers on and I have a fabulous pint of stout, then take a three thirds sample tray from amongst the keg selection.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - Black Frost6.00ExcellentFabulous strong stout – absolute nectar.
London Fields - Pumpkin Ale6.60GoodOn keg dispense. Amber coloured. Good and spicy.
London Fields - Rye Pale Ale4.60GoodA collaboration beer with Redwell Brewing of Norwich – on keg dispense, with a cask version expected to be on sale later this week. Amber coloured. Obvious rye flavour. A bit too chilled and fizzed for my liking.
London Fields - First Born9.00GoodOn keg dispense. A barley wine.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E8 3RR.

London Fields Brewery was established in August 2011 in a railway arch close to London Fields railway station. Initially it was a compact, 2.5 barrel brewery and in time a small bar was developed at the site. The brewery was re-launched as a considerably upgraded 10 barrel brewery in the early part of 2012, now situated a few arches south from its original location. A Tap Room has been set up within the brewery itself in Warburton Street and there is also an events space across the road in Helmsley Place. Reports on this page cover the original site and both of the current sites. Brewing on site ceased in 2014, with beers contract brewed elsewhere. The brewery was purchased by Carlsberg and a much revamped brewery and taproom eventually reopened in August 2019. Taproom and brewery closed and put up for sale at the end of 2021. Re-opened 2023 with new name.

We have visited this pub 18 times, seen 39 different beers and tried 38 of them.
