Busy but not overly so for early evening and prompt service.
Shivering Sands - Timeball | 4.30 | | In fine form was this bitter with local hops from a Deal hop farm. Pleasant bitter aftertaste. |
Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker (formerly Best Bitter) | 4.00 | Not Tried

20 Jul 2024 (Hogan Sampling)
Welcomed by a live band on my first visit to this quaint and highly restored backstreet Victorian gem of a pub. Full of appreciative customers. Got served straight away by cheerful barmaid.
Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Pirate's Pet | 4.50 | | Only sampled a half but could have kept on with it as very moreish, this chestnut beer. Superb head, too. I think the best beer of my day! |
Parkway (formerly Glastonbury Ales) - Cheeky Monkey | 4.00 | | Very healthy look to it and tasted just great, this golden ale. |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried
22 Oct 2023 (Dosser)
3 ales on all at £4 a pint.
Shivering Sands - Green Goddess | 4.20 | | Nice green hop. Big head on beer. |
31 Jan 2020 (Dosser)
Spotted 4 ales on and a big crowd eating steak. Pub has been done up and looks good. The Norweign Blue was good according to my fellow drinkers.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - ÜberHop | 5.20 | | Far too flat and lacking flavour. |
28 Jul 2019 (Dosser)
Mike the landlord was behind the bar of the Albion opposite having taken over as temp Management. One beer on here, Four Candles ale at £3.60 a pint. 40p more than his own pub.
Four Candles - Triple Hop Session | 3.60 | Not Tried
08 Aug 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. First visit here. For me the bright airy bistro style seemed out of place in this area of town. Couple of other customers.
Caledonian - Old Seadog IPA | 5.20 | | The barmaid pulled some through into a jug then served mine. Still too warm and pretty awful beer. If this is IPA style then I am a chinaman (ah so!). I could detect no bitterness so Caledonian please stick to your malty mixes but leave the epithet IPA to others |
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Best Bitter (use Marston's entry now please) | 4.00 | Not Tried
10 Nov 2012 (Blair)
Myself and a friend were trying to find some live music on a Sunday afternoon and this was our last resort. Haven't been here in years and its completely different inside. Part pub and part trendy wine bar, but it works I really liked it.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | I had forgotten how bloody good this beer can be, fantastic. |
Sharp's - Coaster (or Cornish Coaster) | 3.60 | Not Tried

We had been in the Four Candles which is directly opposite this pub, and decided to pop in here for a bite to eat, I had never been in here but I liked it and intend to come again.
Wantsum - Green Hop Fuggles | 4.50 | | I was surprised to find this in here, a very fresh tasting and enjoyable pint. |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
