Third visit of the outing: Very busy with punters out the front for our late afternoon stroll in from the mile's walk along footpaths from Westerham Brewery. Not so many inside but a few on the rear terrace and in a fenced-in garden. Warm, friendly service from the barmaid. Just two real ales to choose from and neither local.

| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Good head and lacing and lasting nearly to the end on this English pale ale by Timothy Taylor’s Brewery in Keighley, West Yorkshire, and where brewing was first set up in 1858 in the centre of Keighley. This ale first launched in 1952 and is said to be the UK's top-selling cask ale, winning CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain title four times. A fruited hoppy first bite from this golden amber-hued ale. A dry bitter fruity hoppiness rising with its fresh citrus winning over from its mix of whole-leaf hops, Goldings, Fuggles and Savinjski Goldings, the latter originating from the Savinja River Valley in Slovenia. This last hop is not genetically related to English Goldings hops but a clonal selection of the English Fuggles hop, which was brought from the UK to Slovenia in the early 19th century. A malted biscuity note veering up with a malty sweetness prevailing from its Golden Promise malted barley. A dry hoppy bitterness sailing out. Served in top form. |

Busy with many diners in and a distinctly fishy smell about the place and not to be confused with a fish and chips café. Timed it for early evening after a walk around Westerham village and onto the moors at the back of the village. A seat to be had for our party of two among the diners as they will allow you just to sit supping beer or other drinks as well. Much Churchill memorabilia adorns the walls as his country residence was just up the road as in Chartwell, now run by the National Trust, and he is seated outside on the Green's plinth.

Mid afternoon on a warm sunny afternoon most folk sitting out on the green. We opted for the rear bar which was just being vacated by earlier diners. Friendly efficient service in this surprisingly as yet unmodernised pub.

Around Noon on a Monday and fairly quiet at first but several family groups came in later. I did not find this a particularly welcoming place.

Westerham was very busy on Bank Holiday Monday and this pub was no exception. We were lucky to get a table for four in the back room when some people left conveniently. Stayed for two good pints and some rather pricey lunchtime food.

Second pub on mine and Andrew's West Kent pub crawl. I rather liked this village and the pub on the green. Reasonably busy for a Saturday lunchtime.

Having squeezed the car down to the rear carpark we had a quick look at the statues on the green. The pub itself was quite cosy with 3 narrow rooms. Some bloke kept coming in and asking the staff if it really was a pub - and he was sobber.

The pub is found in Westerham, Kent, TN16 1AS.
Attractive pub on The Green (which has statues of Winston Churchill and General Wolfe) in the centre of a very pretty Kentish village. The central wooden bar serves several drinking areas. Dark wood beams and cream walls. Pub has a restaurant upstairs. Although not quite the Westerham Brewery tap, you do get some of the Westerham beers here including new releases. Parking at rear of pub.
