Nice pub. Not too busy so I sat at a table in the middle of the pub and watched people go about their pub business.

The expected re-vamp of this pub has taken place. It still looks the same outside, but is transformed within. Opened-out and modernised. Expanded cask beer offering. Pretty busy tonight for the re-opening.
Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - Zephyr | 4.40 | | An amber-coloured, hoppy pint in fab condition. |
Sambrook's - Wandle | 3.80 | Not Tried
Black Sheep - Best Bitter | 3.80 | Not Tried
Southwark - Bermondsey Best | 4.40 | Not Tried

I took the advice to visit whilst I could. Not many old-style pubs like this left in central London. I sat in the Saloon Bar and listened to the radio. I didn’t know radio still existed. Not a wildly exciting beer choice, but I was offered some free crisps to go with it.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | OK I guess. |
03 Apr 2015 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening late. Visited here prompted by Michael Croxford's post yesterday. Some good and some bad karaokers but the pub Guv crooned to several tunes with much acclaim. Morning Advertiser reports that Enterprise Inns wants to transfer this pub into a managed operation, with disputed compensation for the existing tenant.
Hogs Back - England's Glory | 4.40 | | Fresh cask on to replace the HBB. Excellent condition |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10
Hogs Back - HBB | 3.70 | | Tasted sharp to me and was swapped with some chagrin. Noted it ran out several pints on |
02 Apr 2015 (HSB)
18:30 Last stop of the day. I have seen this pub dozens of times but never crossed over Lower Marsh to visit. An omission on my part. Busy.
Hogs Back - HBB | 3.70 | | |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Front Row | 3.70 | Not Tried
