Nice pub. Not too busy so I sat at a table in the middle of the pub and watched people go about their pub business.

The expected re-vamp of this pub has taken place. It still looks the same outside, but is transformed within. Opened-out and modernised. Expanded cask beer offering. Pretty busy tonight for the re-opening.

I took the advice to visit whilst I could. Not many old-style pubs like this left in central London. I sat in the Saloon Bar and listened to the radio. I didn’t know radio still existed. Not a wildly exciting beer choice, but I was offered some free crisps to go with it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70AcceptableOK I guess.

Evening late. Visited here prompted by Michael Croxford's post yesterday. Some good and some bad karaokers but the pub Guv crooned to several tunes with much acclaim. Morning Advertiser reports that Enterprise Inns wants to transfer this pub into a managed operation, with disputed compensation for the existing tenant.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hogs Back - England's Glory4.40ExcellentFresh cask on to replace the HBB. Excellent condition
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10Acceptable
Hogs Back - HBB3.70PoorTasted sharp to me and was swapped with some chagrin. Noted it ran out several pints on

18:30 Last stop of the day. I have seen this pub dozens of times but never crossed over Lower Marsh to visit. An omission on my part. Busy.

The pub is found in Waterloo, Central London, SE1 7AY.

Old Truman, Hanbury and Buxton pub with all external signage still in situ. Was two bars, very traditional feel. The landlord had been there over thirty years at the time of the first documented visit on this website. There were rumours of forthcoming changes. Too late now to enjoy an old style London boozer as it re-opened in April 2016 after considerable internal changes.

We have visited this pub 7 times, seen 16 different beers and tried 8 of them.
