My first visit here for a very long time, it is still a bakery but no longer a brewery. It now just calls itself the Belgian Cafe. I needed some bread for home use so I bought a loaf as well as my pint.
Adnams - Explorer | 4.30 | | In good condition. |
16 May 2012 (Blair)
Myself and my mate were both a little intoxicated by this point and the couple of pints we had here didn't help the matter. Was shockingly busy for a Wednesday evening though.
Crouch Vale - Essex Boys Bitter | 3.50 | | This was actually quite good, hoppy bitter. |
04 Nov 2011 (Blair)
Tend to stop by for a couple after work these days. There's generally never any decent real ale but last night seemed to be an exception. Dreadfully quiet though.
Castle Rock - Black Gold | 3.50 | | A surprisingly delicious pint. Creamy with roasted malt and oats, really quite good. |
04 Jul 2011 (Blair)
Dropped in as it was my sisters birthday and this is the only place left open after 11pm. Absolutely dead so we just stayed for the one.
Hop Back - Summer Lightning | 5.00 | | Very good pint, wasn't expecting it at all. |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
11 Feb 2011 (Blair)
Got here pretty late and it was still pretty busy. One of the strangest pub/bars around, I do like it though. In fact if they knocked a pound off the price of every drink I'd be here a lot more often.
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Sneck Lifter | 5.10 | | Darker than I remember it. Malty and fruity with a little chocolate, pretty good. |
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
26 Jun 2008 (Blair)
Only here because it's the only place in thanet open past midnight on a weeknight. Does have comfy sofas though.
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | | I wasn't expecting much due to this places tendency to keep beer badly. This was actually quite good, quite creamy with citrus and toffee. Certainly an improvement. |
Greene King - Ruddles Best (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
30 Apr 2008 (Blair)
Very quiet and I understood why when I saw the prices. I won't be coming here again, the prices are ridiculous.
Greene King - Ruddles Best (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | | Mmmmmm, chemicals and vinegar combined in a glass. I paid 3 pounds for this as well. This one hurt... |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried

Came here expecting to see a seasonal Gadd's beer on if I was lucky. Instead they had no cask beer at all. The chalk board by the entrance told of a 'Belgium Bar' inside so I wonder whether they've dropped Gadd's altogether?
20 Apr 2006 (Andrew)
Popped in for a quick pint as I didn't have a car to go training. There were only 2 people in, one of whom was at the bar and recomended that I didn't try the Burton Bridge beer.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | | Big foamy head that soon went. Smelt of suculent roast beef. Not much going on in the frount of the mouth but some goats cheese at the side of the tounge. Big bitter grapefruit finish |
Burton Bridge - By George | 4.30 | Not Tried
02 Feb 2006 (Andrew)
Came here in the early evening with Charlie. It was quite quiet. Interesting interior, a kind of cross between a coffee bar and an indoor park. I liked it.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Golden amber colour. Initial astringency replaced by a mellow warm malt flavour with hints of rose petals. Long astringent finish. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
