Our train to Maryport was cancelled, giving us an unexpected opportunity to break down a bit more time somewhere close to Carlisle railway station. Standard Wetherspoon place, busy in the early afternoon on a Friday. Good selection of mostly local brews.

Shop conversion in Botchergate with typical Spoon's style, five minutes walk from the railway station. Barn-like interior. Large beer garden at the back is a sun trap in the evening. Usually has an excellent ale selection with many from local micros sold through 14 handpumps in 2 banks, each of 7.
