24 Sep 2018 (Magnus Greel)
Busy typical ubiquitous clone Wetherspoons atmosphere but it served its purpose for a mid afternoon beer n burger refuel. I've only listed what I drank.
Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | | I couldn't be bothered to check out what else was on offer so opted for this. |
11 Oct 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Possibly my first ever visit to this pub. I arrived at a tense moment with a group of customers shouting at a member of staff who had refused to serve one of their number. The barmaid was so distracted that she pulled me the wrong pint, and there was a tension in the air throughout my visit.
Banks's - Arcadia Autumn Wheat | 6.00 | | Pale gold and cloudy. Smooth and wheaty, with citrusy hops and a bit of spice. |
Shepherd Neame - St Eriks Midnight Sun | 4.50 | | Amber in colour, with a slight haze. A fruity and malty beer. |

Acorn - Global IPA | 5.00 | | A well balanced amber strong bitter with good bitter hop character and a solid malt base. My score 15/20. |
29 Dec 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Shepherd Neame - Bishops Finger | 5.00 | | A sort of metallic bitterness to this which wasn't particularly pleasant. Not much else going for it. My score 13/20. |
29 Sep 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Saltaire - Cascadian Black | 4.80 | | Dark ruby/brown in colour with an excellent mix of dark malt and fruity hop flavours. Smooth mouthfeel and a lingering malty finish. My score 17/20. |
31 Aug 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Cotleigh - Seahawk Gold (formerly Golden Seahawk) | 4.20 | | A good well rounded malty brew with a dryish finish. My score 15/20. |
12 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy with student and office worker groups around 6pm.
Saltaire - Trio Pale | 4.40 | | Pale gold with plenty of hop flavours and a little malt for balance. Dry, hoppy finish. My score 15/20. |
25 Nov 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Fairly busy at 5.30 on a Thursday evening but able to find a table. Still some festival beer available here.
Marston's - Lion Stout | 5.00 | | Second sample of this and still not convinced, lacking body with a rather thin mouthfeel. Some roast malt but little depth of flavour. My score 15/20. |
