My first visit to this pub in ages. Quiet, a little after noon. But preparation of a hog roast, nearly every table laid for dining, and masses of staff around, suggests that plenty of customers were anticipated.

A pub a number of us have been using for years so we decided a good venue for a pre-Christmas drink. Initially steady then a funeral party came in so became wedged. The deceased was a regular and the hearse had been driven by the pub on the way to the service.

Having got the 2012 Good Beer Guide for Christmas I found this jem only 40mins away from Jane's mum's. The pub was large and relaxed and seemed as much a drinker's pub as a diner's.
