Saturday morning soon after 11am, this was the first pub on a tour of eight for the day, we were the only customers at first but others gradually began to trickle in and they expected to be very busy later in the day. One of the chaps behind the bar produced a handful of blank side up pump clips and asked me to pick a card to decide which beer was coming on next. The Rudgate Ruby Mild won and was on sale soon afterwards.

| Elgood's - Black Dog Mild | 3.60 | | Black mild on top form here with a really deep sweet malt flavour with hints of chocolate and liquorice. Low hop rate and some berry fruit in the finish. A much improved mild. My score 17/20. |
