Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Goacher's - Best Dark Ale (aka Original) | 4.10 | Superb, dark, rich with toffee/malt and a good hop balance. Could have drunk this all afternoon. | |
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout | 4.50 | Very nice. Chocolate and subtle burnt malt with rich but mellow hops. Super. | |
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild | 3.40 | Smooth with hints of chocolate and coffee but perhaps lacking in body. | |
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter | 3.80 | Ruby/Brown colour, fruity and hoppy, nice. | |
Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | A nice enough pint but not as assertive or hoppy as I remember |
Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Oakham - JHB | 3.80 | This beat the Summer Perle as summer beers go. Just phenomenally refreshing. The hops are wonderful, an incredibly well put together beer. | |
Westerham - Summer Perle | 3.80 | The perfect summer beer? Really pale, sweet and hoppy. Fantastic ale. | |
Triple fff - Moondance | 4.20 | Complex bitter with lots of hops and citrus. I was really impressed. | |
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild | 3.40 | Dark and a little thin. Coffee and chocolate are the main flavours here. Very nice flavours but I thought it suffered from being a little too thin in the mouth. | |
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter | 3.80 | Darkish bitter. Quite nutty with a bit of roasted malt in there. Pretty good. | |
Goacher's - William Caxton Special | 3.80 | Copper coloured with a light hoppy flavour and a bit of sweet fruit. Quite nice. |

The Beer Festival is found in Dover, Kent, CT17 0UY.
This festival takes place in the renovated Crabble Corn Mill just outside of Dover. Set on the river, the mill itself is a working museum to flour milling. The beer is dispensed from casks on gravity from stillages on the ground floor. There is additional seating upstairs and in the garden. Music is on offer as well as a barbecue and other food.
We have visited this Beer Festival twice, seen 9 different beers and tried them all.
