25 years since I've been here. Umm I suspect my next visit will be in the same period of time. Busy, noisy, and bluh. Much like the beer.

Time for a swift one on the way to the railway station.

Shepherd Neame - Sun & Planet Steam Ale (No. 18 Yard Brewhouse).4.20AcceptableNot what I expected, the pump clip said this was a rich copper ale, it turned out to be a pale straw coloured slightly citrusy beer. ABV was shown on the clip as %2°h whatever that means.

Evening. Walked in to the scream at the Fellaini Manchester United goal on TV.

Evening, fairly busy - here to let my (rather young looking) niece buy a round on the occasion of her 18th birthday - she is disappointed that she is not asked for ID.

Sat at the bar talking to a bloke down from London, whose birthday it was and also had a Sambuca shot as they were only £1.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Late Red4.50GoodApparently ceasing to be all year round after this year's experiment and going back to its usual winter spot. I still like the flavours on this beer and is easily my favourite of Sheps major brands.

After hearing on the site about the double stout I really wanted to come and see for myself. This is a good pub, light and airy, a great place to sit and people watch. Prices are a bit steep but then it is a Shepherd Neame.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Double Stout (superseded by 4% version)4.30GoodDark slightly tart stout, a little lacking in flavour but that really is only a small niggle. Roasted malt dominates with a smooth slightly creamy finish. Actually pretty good.

Again I had 5 mins before the train from Canterbury West, and I wanted to try the Double Stout again.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Double Stout (superseded by 4% version)4.30GoodI thought that this was even better than the day before. Really good roasted malts, even if they are slightly harsh on the finish.

I had 5 mins before my train went so I popped in here quickly to see if the Amber or Early Bird were on and was delighted to find the Double Stout.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Double Stout (superseded by 4% version)4.30GoodBlack, with brown edges, lasting cream head. Decent dry stout, lots of burnt roast malt on finish. Aroma of choc and roast malt. Very burnt and roast with some body but the burnt malt dominates just a touch too much. But still really good and I sank a pint inn 5 mins no problem.

Used this place as a meeting point before heading into town. Only a couple of people in which seemed strange for a friday night. Nice place though even if my beer was more than £3.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Bishops Finger5.00GoodA lot of people don't like this beer but I actually think it's quite good. Rich, malty and satisfying. A good start to the night.
