Hereford - Herefordian Mild | 4.00 | | Amber light mild with some biscuity malt but also a rather phenolic aftertaste, rather spoiling the effect. My score 13/20. |

Saturday of the Spring Beer Festival and the pub is busy again.
Exit 33 (formerly The Brew Company then Sky's Edge) - Pack Horse Light | 3.80 | | Pale and hoppy bitter. Good citrus notes to the hops leading to a dryish and citrussy finish. My score 15/20. |
Jarrow - Pioneer | 3.90 | | Very pale and well balanced bitter. The initial taste is quite sweet, then hop bitterness comes through leading to a dryish, hoppy finish. My score 15/20. |
Silver Brewhouse (formerly Raw) - Blue Bee Moonbeams | 4.00 | | Golden ale with a malty start. Hops then dominate to the dryish and bitter finish. My score 15/20. |
Barlow - Calendar Ale | 4.00 | | Very pale lager style beer with plenty of biscuity malt balanced by a soft, fruity hoppiness. Dryish finish. My score 15/20. |
Goose Eye - Folly's Finest | 4.10 | | Golden ale with more malt than hop flavour which is unusual for this brewer. Sweetish, fuity and malty finish. My score 15/20. |

Spring beer festival in full swing and a very busy pub on a Friday evening.
Yorkshire Dales - Parsons Barn Porter | 5.80 | | A complex tasting porter with yeasty flavours combining with smoked and roast malt notes to give an almost savoury flavour. Hops give a bit more bite in the finish. My score 16/20. |
Mithril - Folk 'n' Ale | 3.70 | | Special for Darlington Spring Thing festival. Pale and quite malty with a soft hoppiness giving a lager style flavour. My score 15/20. |
Sadler's (see also Windsor Castle entry) - E Type | 3.80 | | Well balanced golden bitter with a bittersweet flavour. Dryish finish with some hoppiness. My score 15/20. |
Bridestones - Indian's Head | 3.70 | | Amber coloured bitter with a sweetish toffee malt character and a little hop bitterness. The finish is rather cloying. My score 14/20. |

Mallinsons - Triple S | 3.60 | | Very pale with lots of juicy, sweet citrus hop flavour. My score 16/20. |
Clearwater - Real Smiler | 3.70 | | A malty golden brew with lots of biscuity malt and a little hoppiness in the finish. My score 16/20. |
Goose Eye - Sam's Dark Side | 3.90 | | A dark, almost black bitter with a good roasty character but also a good dose of bittering hops to give an interesting take on a dark beer. My score 16/20. |
Liverpool Organic - Kitty Wilkinson | 4.50 | | Chocolate stout with good roast and chocolate malt flavours leading to a bitter, roast finish. My score 16/20. |

Goose Eye - Damens Dark | 3.90 | | Black mild with good full bodied sweetness but also a fair bit of hoppiness. My score 16/20. |
Great Heck - Sakuarais Object | 4.50 | | Excellent complex vanilla porter with good malt character and sweetness from the vanilla, ending in a fruity and vineous finish. My score 17/20. |
Yorkshire Dales - St'Out of This World | 5.00 | | Full bodied stout with lots of roast malt flavours, fairly dry in the finish. My score 16/20. |
Loddon - Hare Brained | 4.00 | | Golden ale with good hop bitterness and a little malt in the finish. My score 15/20. |

Mallinsons - Folly's Dog Collar Blues | 3.80 | | Festival special for the pub dog, this was a pale bitter with exccellent citrus hop character and good malt balance and body. My score 16/20. |
Bird Brain - Raven | 4.00 | | A black roasty stout. Very good roast malt character and a little dryness in the finish. My score 16/20. |
Goose Eye - Firkin Dark | 3.90 | | A proper mild, dark brown in colour, fruity sweetness and good biscuity malt and only a slight hoppiness. Full bodied, rounded taste and a pleasant finish. My score 17/20. |
Ilkley - Grandma's Pud | 4.00 | | Rich, fruity and malty porter style beer that is more like a mild than the Ruby Cascade. Very good flavour and body for its strength. My score 16/20. |
Five Towns - Viva Cas Vegas | 3.60 | | Fairly bitter and hoppy with good malt balance. My score 15/20. |
Buxton - Buxton Spa | 4.10 | | Well balanced golden ale. My score 15/20. |
Hidden - Froth and Nonsense | 4.20 | | Standard best bitter with a mainly bitter taste. My score 14/20. |
Ilkley - Ruby Cascade | 3.80 | | Ruby mild brewed with Cascade hops to give a bit of a contradiction - a very hoppy, bitter mild. Good beer but isn't in the style of a mild beer. My score 14/20. |
Yorkshire Dales - Redmire Force | 3.80 | | Very pale, very hoppy and very citrussy. In the style of JHB and Hophead, but possibly more intense. Very dry, hoppy finish. My score 14/20. Some will love it. |
The Brew Co (now called Exit 33 after a spell as Sky's Edge) - Autumnus Porter | 4.70 | | Porter with added cinnamon and nutmeg. These flavours dominate and don't work for me. Base beer is good though. My score 14/20. |

Hawkshead - Organic Oatmeal Stout | 4.50 | | Lots of roast malt flavours in this black stout with a dryish finish. My score 16/20. |
Epicurus Craft Beer (formerly Hornbeam) - Cheers Big Ears | 4.00 | | Pale bitter with big malt flavour and good hop balance. A lingering malty finish. My score 17/20. |
Brown Cow - David's Rail Ale | 4.60 | | Dark mild with vanilla giving a sweet character but also a dryish finish. My score 17/20. |
Keystone - VPA (Very Pale Ale) | 4.60 | | Excellent fruity, citrus hop character and good malt balance. My score 16/20. |
