It was a nice sunny day and we enjoyed the view across the channel. The landlady chatted with us about various aspects of the pub trade.

17:00 visit. A short bus ride from nearby Hythe found me visiting lovely Sandgate, a very pleasant seaside town. Again, not been here since early childhood. The pub itself was excellant, a "hidden gem" I was told, and so it was, and well worth finding. An ex Shep's house by all accounts and some very good ales on too. Nice crowd in and a friendly landlord.

An excellent evening, four real ales on, and at very reasonable prices too. Buses run close by at ten minute intervals during the day so I will definitely be back. Unfortunately I forgot to make a note of all the beers that were available.

This pub is now a Free House, and has changed its name slightly to Earl of Clarendon. Little has changed inside, and I had a good chat with the new landlord.

Enjoy sea views in clement weather by sitting out on the tables on the now pedestrianised pathway at the front.
