Transport for London have been doing a great job keeping everything moving in the snow – but Borough Market is nevertheless deserted and this pub almost empty in the peak early evening session.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Anspach & Hobday - Off the Cuff4.00GoodThe first brew from London’s 36th active commercial brewery, currently ‘cuckoo brewing’ at Brew Wharf. It is a nice, amber coloured, juicy bitter with interesting hop flavours.
Brew Wharf - Black Cat Rye PA5.60Not Tried
05 Jan 2013 (Martin the Mildman)
Quiet for a Saturday afternoon, got a seat right by the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Black Cat Rye PA5.60AcceptableBlack in colour with an earthy flavour. Some bitter hop but overall rather unbalanced flavours and not really to my taste or style. My score 13/20.
Anspach & Hobday - Off the Cuff4.00AcceptableBrwed at Brew Wharf, this was a bitter, hoppy beer with dry citrus hop right through to the finish. My score 14/20.
19 Dec 2012 (Stephen Harris)
The busiest I have ever seen this pub – packed with office party types.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Wai-iti XPA5.00GoodA very pale, single-hop beer with a bitter finish.
Brew Wharf - Black Cat Rye PA5.60GoodA dark beer with fruity hops and plenty of rye tastes.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Wai-iti XPA5.00ExcellentPale and well hopped with a citrus and fruit flavour. Some malt balance. Hoppy citrus fruit finish. My score 16/20.
19 Nov 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Fairly quiet in here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Back to the Junga3.80GoodGolden coloured. Easy-drinking beer, with Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops giving a fruity softness followed by a bitter finish.
Brew Wharf - Borough Brown5.00GoodDark brown in colour. Heavily malty, with some relief from Willamette and Northern Brewer hops.
27 Oct 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Late Saturday afternoon and quite busy inside with football on TV.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Borough Brown5.00ExcellentDark brown ale with a smooth, full bodied flavour. Fairly sweet and nutty with some roast malt and hop bitterness for balance. A little fruit in the finish. My score 16/20.
Brew Wharf - Back to the Junga3.80AcceptableHoppy pale golden bitter, a little harsh and dry for my taste. My score 14/20.
12 Oct 2012 (Stephen Harris)
It’s Friday night and the pub is busy. This is the first time I have been in here since Brew Wharf’s Olympic closure (when it formed part of Team USA House) and subsequent refurbishment – nothing much seems to have changed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Cascadian Pale5.10ExcellentVery pale – pale malt, fruity US hops (Willamette, Cascade) , sharply bitter finish.
Brew Wharf - No “lager” Lager4.80GoodAlmost too many double-negatives in this beer to keep pace with. Brewed in the Kölsch style, which is an ale not a lager, but using pale lager malt. Definitely not, not, not a lager.
02 Oct 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy inside so sat outside under the heated courtyard.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - No “lager” Lager4.80ExcellentBetter than a lager, brewed with ale yeast giving more body with good fruity hop flavours and some malt balance. My score 16/20.
25 Sep 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brew Wharf - Cascadian Pale5.10ExcellentGood straightfoward strong pale ale with Cascade hops. Lots of citrus hops with a full bodied flavour. My score 16/20.

Opened late September 2005 in between Vinopolis and Borough Market. Accessed from the street via an archway and a courtyard. Large lower ground bar with largish eating area under high vaulted brick ceilings. Feel of a large modern bar. Lots of exposed brick and also seating area out the front opposite the market. Serves Meantime Brewery keg beers from Greenwich and also brewed its own beers for a while. Range of world beers too. May be offering CAMRA card holders a discount so do ask. Real ales sold through 2 handpumps.

We have visited this pub 93 times, seen 98 different beers and tried 90 of them.
