07 Aug 2014 (Jack William)
Small handful of drinkers in. Good beer knowledge - Canterbury brewer behind the bar.
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Man's Gold | 4.00 | | Great fresh hop taste - excellent condition. |
Canterbury Brewers - Biggleston's Bird Man | 3.60 | | Brewer admitted he wasn't happy with this - and it tasted old and stale. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Festiv'Ale | 3.80 | Not Tried
Canterbury Brewers - Topaz | 4.70 | Not Tried
08 Jun 2014 (Stephen Harris)
Late Sunday afternoon call, at a time when the pub was pretty quiet.
Canterbury Brewers - Topaz | 4.70 | | Amber-coloured. A slightly jarring mix of sweetish malt and very bitter hop character. |
Canterbury Brewers - Biggleston's Bird Man | 3.60 | | A Brown Ale with plenty of hops. |
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Man's Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried
31 Jan 2014 (Brian)
About 16:00, almost full with a mixed crowd of folk.
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Torpedo | 4.50 | | Fruit and body, not at all like a lager. |
Canterbury Brewers - Heresy IPL | 4.90 | | Served in a jug like I used to drink Double Diamond out of in the Olive Branch back in the day. Not my style any more, too dry, thin lacking any kind of depth. I guess it's how it's supposed to be and it went down easily enough. Better than Skol but only average. |
Canterbury Brewers - Little Red Rye | 4.50 | Not Tried
24 Jan 2014 (Andrew)
Quiet. Friendly service.
Canterbury Brewers - GB | 4.20 | | Hint of Belgium yeast |
Canterbury Brewers - Christmas Pudding Ale | 4.60 | Not Tried
Canterbury Brewers - Little Red Rye | 4.50 | Not Tried
16 Jan 2014 (Andrew)
Quiet. Echos of Jim Vanns leaving-do 8 years ago still haunt this pub for me.
Canterbury Brewers - GB | 4.20 | | Very much like Torpedo |
Canterbury Brewers - Christmas Pudding Ale | 4.60 | Not Tried
Canterbury Brewers - Little Red Rye | 4.50 | Not Tried
29 Nov 2013 (Brian)
Nicely quiet by the time I arrived mid afternoon
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Man's Gold | 4.00 | | Really nice, sweet apricot and bitter nettley finish |
08 Nov 2013 (Brian)
Post haircut visit. A few around the bar mid afternoon.
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Man's Gold | 4.00 | | Not had this for a while. Excellent, bitter and sweet at the same time. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Rye Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried
23 Sep 2013 (Alenomore)

22 Feb 2013 (Brian)
Mid afternoon. Nice place to be. Bar staff are young and efficient.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60 | | Surprised that it was still on as the guests seem to come and go. Really excellent stout. |
Canterbury Brewers - Street Light Porter | 5.80 | | If the oatmeal stout was an excellent then this was an excellent+. I could drink this all day...well except at 5.8% I couldn't, but apart from that it's a superb coffee, chocolate, silky smooth sweet porter. As good here as at the Foundry |
Canterbury Brewers - Canterbury Wheat | 4.40 | Not Tried
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Helles | 4.10 | Not Tried
17 Feb 2013 (Brian)
About 14:00 on a pleasant Sunday. Half-full, some youngsters, most people my age...
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60 | | Really nice. A thin, reedy bitterness and a coffee finish. Jet black with beige head. Perfect condition. |
Canterbury Brewers - Loco IPA | 3.90 | | I've only had this once before and wasn't impressed. Must of had a bad pint, this was excellent. Big, lemony hit of ..er lemon and new mown grass. Soap suddy head and yellow body. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried
Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Man's Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried
