26 Sep 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Last visit on a Truman's hunt and did not disappoint. Truman's, in conjunction with Nicholson's, is running a customer feedback test of new Truman's brands. First time I have seen a member of staff on mobile whilst serving a customer (not me) a beer.
Big Penny (formerly Truman's) as of late 2022 contract brewed - US Pale | 4.60 | | Pretty bulk standard lemony citrus beer. Would be disappointed if this became Truman's snazzy new big brand |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Moles - Mole Catcher | 5.00 | Not Tried
Daleside - Old Legover (a.k.a. Country Stile) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Brains - The Rev James Original | 4.50 | Not Tried
St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried | Clip at 90 degrees to front so guess was sold out |
19 Jan 2013 (Martin the Mildman)
Not much seating space in here, but found a perch.
Navigation - Pale Ale | 3.90 | | Typically biscuity malty East Midlands pale bitter. Some fruity hop in the finish. My score 15/20. |

With transport difficulties, central London is a bit of a ghost town today – apart from rampant sales shoppers and bemused tourists wandering around wondering why everywhere is closed. Luckily, this pub has opened.
Sambrook's - London Winter Ale | 4.60 | | Dark, richly malty and warming – although this pint not in great condition. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Moles - Mole Catcher | 5.00 | Not Tried
Green Jack - Trawlerboys Best Bitter | 4.60 | Not Tried
Navigation - Pale Ale | 3.90 | Not Tried
St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried
Brentwood - The Only Way is Santa | 5.20 | Not Tried
12 Jan 2012 (Stephen Harris)
It’s mid-evening and the pub is busy. Some people appear to have had a few too many. Disappointing to find that the "tax-busting" 2.7% beer is being sold at the same price as everything else. For the same money, I could have drunk the Jaipur IPA!
Adnams - Sole Star | 2.70 | | This is my first try at one of the new wave of below-3% beers. It's a decent attempt, with bags of hop flavours. But ultimately it is completely lacking in body. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | Not Tried
Acorn - Barnsley Bitter | 3.80 | Not Tried
Caledonian - Double Dark | 4.60 | Not Tried
21 Dec 2011 (Stephen Harris)
Packed with City types wearing paper crowns.
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Top of the Hops 2012 | 4.50 | | Claims to be brewed using 2,012 varieties of British-grown hops. Certainly on the hoppy side. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
