A family gathering here to celebrate my father’s 83rd birthday. Good to see that dad can still sniff out a decent pub, as we learn on arrival that the pub has just been awarded the South East Sussex CAMRA Pub of the Year award.

There has been a morning car boot fair in the adjoining field, which means that the two bars are busy but the dining area unexpectedly quiet. A nice lunch here with my parents.

Road-side country pub with a long history. Family-run, with friendly service and tasty food. There are two bars at the front - Public and Lounge, with a dining area and conservatory to the rear. Usually festooned with hop garlands. Large garden at the back. This pub is noted for its Bonfire Society and its annual beer festival.
