Visits Details
01 Dec 2015 (HSB)
12:30 Friend came to visit and we came here for lunch. No rolls today so one pint and moved on. Seven others in not bad for a weekday lunchtime.
Outrigger - Bitter | 3.80
Caledonian - Flying Scotsman (superseded by 3.5% version) | 4.00 | Not Tried
27 Nov 2015 (HSB)
17:45 Went to see one of our chums whose friend from Ireland had come over for the weekend. A pleasant gathering of seven of us. The pub was busy.
Dent - Aviator | 4.00 | | Nice balanced bitter |
Outrigger - Bitter | 3.80 | | Standard bitter |
Scarborough - Cascades | 4.10 | | Bit tired. One of our company had had it earlier in the week and he said it was very hoppy. |
16 Nov 2015 (HSB)
17:45 Reasonably busy. They have started announcing beers on sale via their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/The-London-Tavern-1577649735779739/timeline/ handy if you want to check before you go.
Coastal - Mosaic Gold | 4.20 | | Nice and hoppy. |
Taylor's Attleborough - Remember Me | 4.40 | Not Tried
09 Nov 2015 (HSB)
17:45 After a day of domestic duties the pub beckoned. Just us and one other at the start but got busier before we left.
Blackhill - Victoria | 4.20 | | As near to a perfect pint as I have had. First out the cask, lovely light brown colour, exceptional clarity, hop and malt balance spot on, and a tight but small head. A proper English bitter. |
Blackhill - Victoria | 4.20 | | I couldn't resist another pint of the Victoria. The Paradox had a strong aftertaste and I thought that the Victoria would seem comparatively tasteless afterwards but no. It was superb from the first sip. |
North Blyth - Winter Ale | 4.40 | | An odd beer. A light beer when I was expecting dark. The pump clip said "citrousy" but it thought it was more vanilla than citrus. |
Neath - Paradox | 4.80 | | Another odd beer. Described on the clip as a black IPA. Black as your hat, good condition but lightly hopped. The back taste would see it better placed in the old ale spectrum. |
26 Oct 2015 (HSB)
18:00 Yet another outing forced by domestic problems. The brewer and the barman had been to the trade session of the Norwich beer festival and discussion ensued about the beers on offer there.
Wolf - Werewolf | 4.40 | | Full bodied and flavoursome |
Wolf - Straw Dogs | 4.50 | | A shadow of its former self. |
Wolf - City of Cambridge Boathouse Bitter | 3.70 | | Unmemorable |
13 Oct 2015 (HSB)
18:30 An unplanned visit to the Tavern to escape a powerless house. A suspected altercation between a beet lifter and a telegraph pole in the field behind us resulted in a day of fluctuating voltage and then a four hour power cut whilst repairs were carried out. Still the beer was welcome as was the curry afterwards.
St Peter's - Boo! | 5.20 | | A true winter warmer. Dark and luscious. |
Just a Minute - Golden Dawn | 4.30 | | A marmite beer. I enjoyed it but neither of two of my regular drinking chums liked it at all. |
04 Oct 2015 (HSB)
11:45 First in. Catch up chat with Steve about brewery progress.
XT Brewing - No. 1 Blonde | 4.20 | | Well balanced golden ale |
XT Brewing - No. 2 Gold | 4.20 | | Good but not as good as the Blonde |
Wolf - Edith Cavell | 3.70 | Not Tried
Wolf - The Pack | 3.90 | Not Tried
27 Sep 2015 (HSB)
16:00 - 19:00 A barbecue for regular customers. Very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Grain - Year of the Hop 2015 - Dr Rudi | 4.40 | | Very light, dry back taste |
Salopian - Shropshire Gold | 3.80 | | Last out the cask but still good. |
Wolf - The Pack | 3.90 | | Yet another rugby beer. Good standard bitter colour, slightly nutty, sweet finish. |
Wolf - Hobson's Choice | 4.20 | | Contract brewed for City of Cambridge. |
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
23 Sep 2015 (HSB)
17:30 A welcome break after a day spent decorating.
Long Man - Long Blonde | 3.80 | | Good session beer |
Cottage - Blindside | 4.20 | | Not a blond beer! Slightly sweet. |
16 Sep 2015 (HSB)
17:30 A trip to Sainsbury's to get a voucher for 12p off a litre of petrol but once in Attleborough the Tavern exerts its siren call. I probably break even. Usual crew in.
Borough (Neath) - Puddlers Pride | 4.80 | | A superb strong bitter. |
New Lion - Tea Q9 | 4.20 | | A citrus beer with Earl Grey. I can't stand the smell of Earl Grey tea but it makes a wonderful partner with hops. |
Taylor's Attleborough - On Your Bike | 4.00 | Not Tried | Celebratory beer for the cycle race coming through town last Saturday. |
