Some leftover Howling Hops Brewery kegs from the recent London Craft Beer Festival are being drained here tonight.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Yüki9.20ExceptionalFrom key-keg. A very serious, barrel-aged Imperial Stout.
Howling Hops (Former brewery at Cock Tavern) - Threefold10.50ExcellentFrom key-keg. Brewed on the small kit here at the Cock Tavern. A massive dose of Citra and Simcoe hops in a proper headbanger of a beer.
Almasty - New Zealand IPA6.00GoodTasty.
Almasty - Vanilla & Coconut IPA6.00PoorI did not like this at all. On reflection, there may have been an issue with the cask.

A brief call.

It's another Cloudwater Brewery night here, to coincide with the pub's monthly cheese night. In contrast to a couple of weeks ago, Cloudwater have this time sent only keykeg beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cloudwater - Bellini Slushie8.00ExceptionalAn extraordinary beer (at an extraordinary price). Strong, dry from champagne yeast, and oozing with peaches.
Cloudwater - Bourbon BA Kentucky Common8.20ExcellentAn incredibly complex beer. Pale and murky, woody and dry.

Quiet in the late afternoon. Five subtly different cask Bitters from Cloudwater Brewery are available.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cloudwater - Yellow Self Optimisation in the Digital Age5.00ExcellentHigh quality Best Bitter with the mellowness of Fuggles hops.
Cloudwater - Green Self Optimisation in the Digital Age5.00ExcellentBest Bitter brewed with Endeavour hops. The slightly sharper taste makes this one my preference of the two I tried.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E8 1EJ.

There was a pub called the Cock in Hackney village as early as the 1650s, and in 1661 it was the venue for ‘Popish Conspirators’, plotting an unsuccessful assassination attempt on King Charles II. Nobody is quite sure if this was the predecessor of today’s pub – but the present pub was certainly around by the 1830s and was rebuilt in its present form by Truman’s Brewery in around 1930. Very much a down-market, high street, strictly ‘no real ale’ sort of place, it closed in early 2012 for refurbishment, and re-opened on 18 July 2012 as a real ale champion, complete with in-house ‘Howling Hops’ micro-brewery (subsequently relocated to larger premises). This pub is sister pub to the Southampton Arms in Kentish Town.

We have visited this pub 124 times, seen 426 different beers and tried 269 of them.
