13:15 Mid-Norfolk Railway promised a beer festival to accompany the East Coast Steam Gala. Failed. Came here for lunch instead. Shame to see both guest ales from Greene King.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Southwold Bitter3.70AcceptableBit sharp
Greene King - Brasilia!4.10AcceptableThe best of a boring choice of beer. Lacking the typical Greene King taste but too sweet.

13:30 A complete contrast to the Dragon. Welcoming, some diners, some drinkers. Good pubby feel rather than a restaurant with beer.

12:20 Couple of pints before taking my mate to the station for his journey back to York. Quiet when we went. Filling up when we left at 13:00.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Suffolk County Best Bitter4.00AcceptableNot to my taste.
Adnams - Oyster Stout4.30AcceptableHadn't tried for many years. Don't think I'll bother again.
29 Dec 2013 (HSB)
14:10 Very quiet for a Sunday afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Tally-Ho7.00GoodMy son and I had what we discovered to be the first two pints of the lunchtime session. The beer had aged distinctly since my pints on Boxing Day and was vinous and slightly sour. I had a second pint and it was identical in taste to my previous visit.

11:30 Having just watched the Dunston Harriers ride off from the market cross I came here looking for Tally-Ho. I was not disappointed.

12:05 Five in already. Second visit when both guest beers were from Greene King, although one was claiming to be from the Westgate Brewery. A great shame as this pub used to be a good bet for unusual guest beers.
