Met up here with a recently retired colleague for a relaxed and pleasant stay which included a reasonable and tasty lunch. Very quiet just a couple of others inside and double that in the secluded beer garden.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Green Daemon5.00ExcellentFull bodied yet light and easy drinking citrusy nectar.
Bedlam - Smash4.20GoodMalty with hints of tropical fruits. I do wish breweries wouldn't use meaningless yet fashionable acronyms the average punter wouldn't understand.

Afternoon- on my way to Craven Cottage. Hopefully to tick off a couple of heritage pubs on the way. Quiet but pleasant in here, good beer choice.

Just 2 others in upon our arrival around 16.30 however standing room only when we left 3 hours later. This could quite easily fall into the 'craze pub' category should I ever become devoid of imagination!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Winter Ale4.20ExcellentAniseed and blackcurrant hints made for a flavoursome ale negating the need for a higher ABV more common amongst this genre.
Wadworth - Horizon4.00Good
Robinsons - Trooper4.70Good

Just after opening Saturday lunchtime - half a dozen people in and getting busier - always has a good buzz to this pub. Good ale selection.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Christmas4.40ExcellentChalked up as “Xmas Ale 4%” I’m not sure if this is the same beer. But it was very good and seasonal.

Soon after opening time, we were informed that the lines had just been cleaned. Our Bath Gem turned out to be Kent Session Pale Ale, and after asking the cellarman to check the lines he agreed that the two pumps had been connected the wrong way round. I have done that myself so not a problem, the barmaid offered to take the beer back and change it for what we ordered but I hate to see beer go to waste so I drank it.

Kent - Session Pale3.70Excellent
Robinsons - Trooper4.70Excellent
Bath Ales - Gem Bitter4.10AcceptableI think this was last knockings. Hazy with a thick yeasty head.

Mid evening relaxed comfortable atmosphere as always here just the soft background noise of folk conversing. One of my favourite pubs in Canterbury convenient for the nearby Bahnhof.

Afternoon visit - heaving - until a group of 11 left - then a bit quieter.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Exmoor - Stag (superseded by 4.8% version)5.20ExcellentReplaced the Harvey’s.
Robinsons - Trooper4.70ExcellentCouldn’t fault it.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00PoorMy friend thought this was ok until I pointed out that it was opaque. Rapidly replaced - as was the barrel.

Steady afternoon visit in this wonderful old unspoilt boozer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70ExcellentSay what you like about Shepherd Neame but in a world flooded by hazy, sour beers flavoured with candy and god knows what, IN my honest opinion a well kept pint of Master Brew is hard to beat if what your looking for is a pint of proper quaffable, session hoppy bitter. Served in excellent condition here.
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale3.90Excellent
Butcombe - Original4.00Not Tried

Are we allowed take-away entries? Laurie the landlord is doing a takeaway service from the front door at £2.50 a pint. No choice and served in old plastic milk containers but very welcome all the same. I stood and stared longingly into the interior while my half gallon was drawn.
