Soon after opening time, we were informed that the lines had just been cleaned. Our Bath Gem turned out to be Kent Session Pale Ale, and after asking the cellarman to check the lines he agreed that the two pumps had been connected the wrong way round. I have done that myself so not a problem, the barmaid offered to take the beer back and change it for what we ordered but I hate to see beer go to waste so I drank it.
| Kent - Session Pale | 3.70 | | |
| Robinsons - Trooper | 4.70 | | |
| Bath Ales - Gem Bitter | 4.10 | | I think this was last knockings. Hazy with a thick yeasty head. |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | |

Mid evening relaxed comfortable atmosphere as always here just the soft background noise of folk conversing. One of my favourite pubs in Canterbury convenient for the nearby Bahnhof.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Black Pearl Oyster Stout | 6.20 | | Smooth creamy nectar with roasted coffee bean on the palate. |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | |

Afternoon visit - heaving - until a group of 11 left - then a bit quieter.
| Exmoor (now brewed by Hogs Back) - Stag (superseded by 4.8% version) | 5.20 | | Replaced the Harvey’s. |
| Robinsons - Trooper | 4.70 | | Couldn’t fault it. |
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | My friend thought this was ok until I pointed out that it was opaque. Rapidly replaced - as was the barrel. |

| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - She Sells Sea Shells | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
30 Sep 2021 (Archie14)
Steady afternoon visit in this wonderful old unspoilt boozer.
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | Say what you like about Shepherd Neame but in a world flooded by hazy, sour beers flavoured with candy and god knows what, IN my honest opinion a well kept pint of Master Brew is hard to beat if what your looking for is a pint of proper quaffable, session hoppy bitter. Served in excellent condition here. |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale | 3.90 | | |
| Butcombe - Original | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

Are we allowed take-away entries?
Laurie the landlord is doing a takeaway service from the front door at £2.50 a pint. No choice and served in old plastic milk containers but very welcome all the same. I stood and stared longingly into the interior while my half gallon was drawn.
| Hopdaemon - Session Ale | 3.80 | | |
06 Mar 2020 (ChrisE)
Late evening visit. I was served a very short pint by a barman who promptly disappeared towards the kitchen. When he returned I asked for a top up and was told that "10% below is O.K." I did get a full measure after some effort but I am not impressed.
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | |

Lunchtime, busy with some old stalwarts who had been playing football (I gave up about 10 years ago).
| Mighty Oak - Elf Garnett | 4.10 | | Very tasty amber ale. |
| Mighty Oak - Silversmith | 4.60 | | A good pale ale. |

Saturday evening for a very quick pint before catching a train. A good pub atmosphere tonight. There were four cask ales on but they were all ones with weird flavours or others that I did not fancy so I settled for a good old Sheps.
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | | Superb Master Brew. |
20 Jul 2019 (Magnus Greel)
Last pub before train home with a few of our group enjoying a pint here. Great atmosphere as usual in this proper drinkers pub.
| Long Man - Sleeping Giant | 3.80 | | Light pale slightly salty yet refreshing |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | |
| Long Man - Long Blonde | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Angels & Demons (now uses McCanns branding not its own) - Black Taxi to the Moon | 5.40 | Not Tried | |

I'm a rare visitor to the lovely city of Canterbury these days, but over many years I have tended to favour this pub. With good reason I think.
| Iron Pier - Wealdway IPA | 4.50 | | Such a drinkable IPA. |
| Iron Pier - Barbe Rouge & Bramling Cross Joined at the Hop | 3.80 | | Lovely brambly hop flavours. |
