Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

AndrewExcellent10 Oct 2015 Top stuff. Had 3 pints. All too warm
AndrewExceptional31 Aug 2013 Man this is good. Ah man this is good. It's a meal in a pint.
AndrewExceptional02 Aug 2013 Excellent condition; excellent temperature; excellent beer. I just love the astringent peanut-grapefruit flavours in this beer. ...and all at 3.9%.
AndrewExcellent23 Jul 2013 Ah the Wife. Good condition but if I were really picky it was a degree too warm. Still, it's a great beer.
AndrewExceptional08 Feb 2013 Just the right temperature. Stunning leafy, grapefruit hop and subtle malt combination. Just such a great beer.
EddieExceptional06 Oct 2012 Stunning :)
AndrewExcellent15 Sep 2012 Excellent beer this but served too warm again. Ian's pint of Dr Sunshine was about 4 degrees colder than mine. Drop the temperature and it would have been outstanding.
BlairExcellent30 Jun 2012 Earthy bitter, very nice.
AndrewExcellent29 Jun 2012 Very drinkable. Hint more grapefruit and it would have been perfect.

AndrewExcellent13 Jan 2012 Superb beer. Less toasted-nut today (which was a shame) and more juicy-fruits in the grapefruit hop bite (which was different).
AndrewExceptional06 Jan 2012 Awesome beer served just right. Really, this is in my top 5 beers.
AndrewGood24 Dec 2011 An excellent beer served just a few degrees too warm. Shame.
BlairExcellent19 Dec 2011 Finally I can see what everyone has been raving about, the last couple of times I've tried this it's been far inferior. Really drinkable, fruity ale.
AndrewNot Tried29 Nov 2011 Moral of story, trust your instincts
AndrewExcellent18 Nov 2011 A degree or 2 too warm but still outstanding.
AndrewGood04 Nov 2011 This would have been outstanding if it wasn't for it being served far too warm. Real shame.
AndrewExceptional30 Sep 2011 Ever been out on a boiling hot day and gone for a swim? You know that feeling after you've been in the water for about 5 minutes and the initial shock of the cold has past and you've nearly cooled down? Well this beer is the drinking equivalent of that. Just superb.
AndrewExcellent19 Aug 2011 A touch too warm but wow this is a great beer. It seems to me to be a cross between and old fashioned Best Bitter and a modern Mid Atlantic Pale Ale. I've tried a few beer that have attempted this combination of styles but none have been as brilliantly good as "The Wife".
AndrewExcellent22 Jul 2011 Can't remember a whole lot about this after having been to the beer festival but I do remember it being excellent.
AndrewGood13 Jul 2011 Maybe this was just very fresh but the grapefruit hop was very pronounced and drowned out the other flavours I usually find in this fantastic beer. Still very good (and in excellent condition). I hope the recipe hasn't been changed!!!
BlairNot Tried19 Jun 2011
AndrewExceptional11 Jun 2011 Ha ha, this was laughingly good. Really, I did laugh when I took my first sip of this. Man this is great. The fruit, hops and malt in this are just brilliant. Ha ha ha.
IanExceptional11 Jun 2011 Of all the new Kent beers I think this is my favourite along with Tonbridge Blonde Ambition. Really tasty citrus hops great stunning condition and all for 3.8% abv
AndrewExceptional05 May 2011 Outstanding session bitter
BlairAcceptable13 Apr 2011 Fruity, a little yeasty. Kind of had a homebrew flavour going on.
AndrewExceptional09 Apr 2011 Had the last pint out and one of the first pints of the new barrel. Both were superb.
AndrewExceptional16 Mar 2011 The condition on this was superb and the flavours unbeatable; earthy hop, lemon rind and just so quaffable. If only all session beers were this good.
BrianNot Tried15 Mar 2011
AndrewExcellent11 Feb 2011 Deep golden colour but light. Lemon rind flavours with some toasted peanut. Really good stuff.
IanExcellent01 Feb 2011 Best beer of the evening. Lightish bitter, but full in mouth, good hop flavours on end. Really interesting drinkable beer.
