Good footfall both inside and outside in the surrounding garden for my early afternoon visit on this mild and mostly dry Saturday. Joined by some Bromley CAMRA members who cabbed it from Faversham as about a mile and a half from Faversham station and town centre. I walked here and back and so built up the appetite for some good beers to be had here and back in town. Warm, friendly welcome and prompt service at the bar. Still a time-warp of a place full of old framed photographs of it in earlier decades and wooden models of sailing ships and tugs. It has not altered inside in decades and had two log fires lit to add that extra homely touch to it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Crown Imperial Stout4.50ExcellentThis Maidstone stout came with a creamy head and lacing. A dry malty first hit. A dryish bitterness came to the fore with a bitter and coffee-infused roasted maltiness lingering. Very moreish.
Goacher's - Shipwrecked (house beer)3.80GoodTheir house beer from Goacher's in Maidstone, Shipwreaked, was on gravity dispense behind the bar, as were the other three ales on, and came with great head and lacing. There was a dry bitter first hit. This amber ale had a mildly fruity maltiness in amongst the hoppiness in the mouthfeel. A moreishly hoppy dryness persisted.

Lovely old gem of a pub and in a time-warp. Must be a good 20 years since my last visit and nothing appears to have changed with it which is comforting in this fast-moving world we live in. Full of old photographs of the pub's exterior and nautical ornaments. Warm welcome from staff and attentive service for this early afternoon visit. Most punters outside in the garden lapping up the sunshine alongside the fine ales on offer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kent - The Quiet American4.20ExcellentSuperb carbonation and lacing. An immediate lemon-hit on first tasting with a long-lasting bitterness.
Kent - Prohibition4.80GoodIn fine form with a dry, fruity aftertaste.

We arrived about 12:30 and the carpark was already full. The pub itself was quite quiet but its garden was busy. Efficient friendly staff, and a pint of Goachers - jolly good.

Cam and I had run to the train at Teynham but missed it by 30 seconds. We got a taxi here as we couldn't face sitting in Teynham for a hour waiting for the next train. The Shipwrights was bathed in sunshine and we sat out on the banks of the creek with our Goachers. In the distance was Sheppy and Whitstable.

The pub is found in Faversham, Kent, ME13 7TU.

Ancient white weatherboarded pub out on the Swale creek at Hollowshore, this is a mecca for anyone who likes Kentish beers and marsh countryside. The walk along the creek to the pub is wonderful and good for bird life and views across to the Isle of Sheppey and up to Whitstable. Beers are normally from Goacher's plus occasional guests and feature Goacher's Mild, Shipwrecked (a Goacher's special badged and brewed for the pub) and either Gold Star or Original. A beer lovers' paradise but also with a reputation for good food and has a separate restaurant room. All real ales are served by gravity direct from the casks visible behind the bar.

We have visited this pub 38 times, seen 30 different beers and tried 21 of them.
