Not that busy on my early evening arrival as the rest of my party were on the move while I was demolishing a plate of fish and chips a few doors along from The Pub. They had moved on to a new micropub/coffee shop further into town called the Cosmic Sailor and which opened in August 2025 by all accounts. Prompt, friendly service from the guvnor here and pleased to see a good selection of real ales including a local two to choose from. My last stop on the outing and despite the name, this is actually a micropub. A train to catch to be back at my local micro in East Greenwich before closing meant only a half possible.
| Shivering Sands - Green Hop Bitter (2025) | 4.20 | | My first tasting of a Green Hop from Shivering Sands this year from their microbrewery situated just outside Manston Airport and in a region with a long tradition of hop growing. Also referred to as the Green Goddess by the brewery in using the green hop to give the beer a grassy, earthy and citrusy flavour which I certainly detected. Very good head and lacing and lasting superbly. A fresh hoppy first hit emanating from the local Deal Hop Farm. A dry hoppy, mild bitterness rising, with its volatile oils in tact having escaped the drying process of normal hops, and gently ebbing out in the aftertaste. |

Very busy in this micropub in the high street with many of the minibus crowd in here among the locals for my mid-afternoon visit. Many of them brought fish and chips in from a few doors along to soak up a good few hours of beers. Prompt, friendly service from the owner.
| Long Man - Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Fresh on and so this bitter's head and lacing was at its best. A bitter malty mouthfeel on this Best from north-west of Eastbourne and a moreish dryness lingering from those fragrant hops, Fuggles and local East Kent Goldings. |
| Goacher's - Best Dark Ale (aka Original) | 4.10 | Not Tried | Just went off on ordering it. |
| Chislet - Island Road | 4.50 | Not Tried | |

Early evening just a handful of others in, our group had withered down to just 5 by now so no issues with finding somewhere to park.
