Usual struggle to find a drinkable ale. Usual grubby tables.
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Arcadia Session Pale Ale | 4.50 | | Thin for abv with some limited US hops. As a homebrewer I would be disappointed if I'd brewed this. |
19 Apr 2017 (McGargle)
Grubby tables. Fine selection of dull brown beers if that's your thing.
Uprising (sub-brand of Windsor & Eton) - Treason West Coast IPA | 5.80 | | American style IPA. OK but no finesse. |
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Firefly | 3.70 | | Dull, brown and characterless. |

Quite busy for fish night. Run out of fish.

08 Sep 2016 (McGargle)
Not much ale choice. Quality generally poor.
Thwaites - 13 Guns (canned) | 5.50 | | The reliability of cans against the vaguaries of cask. As is often the case cans win. |
Wood's - Wonderful | 4.80 | | Undemanding dark amber ale. |
Orkney (Sinclair) - Nimbus Blonde (Atlas range) | 5.00 | | On the turn. |
Windswept - Waimea | 3.80 | | So thick you could stand a sppon up it. Replaced but kept on sale. |
31 May 2016 (McGargle)
Good service, disappointing beer choice.
Vale - Gravitas | 4.80 | | Well at least there was some freshness and hop presence. |
Camerons - Fridge Magnet Pale Ale | 4.50 | | Despite the brewer's description that this was 'highly hopped' or 'delightfully complex' it wasn't. 'Cardboard' might be a more appropriate description. |
11 Feb 2016 (McGargle)
Busy bot good service this evening.
Burton Bridge - XL Bitter | 4.00 | | Workmanlike Burton bitter. |
Adnams - Stone Amber Ale | 4.50 | | Badged (incorrectly) as Leviation this was a malt led, hop lacking beer. Not to my taste at all. A disappointment. |
23 Dec 2015 (McGargle)
Poor beer range.
Elgood's - Hickathrift | 4.30 | | Wierd earthy/spicy. Didn't taste the ginger which may be a good thing. |
11 Dec 2015 (McGargle)
Christmas busy. Staff working hard.
Hook Norton - Ducato A.F.O. | 5.40 | | Initially smooth then sweet and unsatisfying. |
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Sudwerk Inbetween | 4.80 | | Thin, watery. Disappointment in a glass. |
30 Oct 2015 (McGargle)
Busy.
Banks's - Central City Red Racer IPA | 6.50 | | This wa s good. Plenty of US hops, excellent but dry body and no hint of Banks's yeast. |
Butcombe - Chinook APA | 4.20 | | Pale shadow of what an APA should be. No malt sweetness and not much from the hops. Easy drinking beer. |
