25 Feb 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Unusually quiet for a Friday evening. No problem, the beer was great.
Stonehouse - K.P.A. | 4.60 | | Wonderful, full bodied, golden ale. Lots of subtle flavours and in my opinion the best of the Stonehouse portfolio (and the rest are pretty good). A must, whenever and wherever available. |
18 Feb 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Great, friendly Friday night atmosphere.
Salopian - Shropshire Gold | 3.80 | | A golden brown, medium bodied ale. I found the taste a bit muddled - not a clean, crisp bitter but nevertheless a bitter. As confusing as the artistic movement it was presumably named after. Worth another try. |
15 Feb 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Extremely quiet early Tuesday evening. Great!
Summer Wine (SWB) - Dakota Golden Ale | 4.20 | | Lots of citrus with a pleasant bitter aftertaste. Plenty of body. A jolly good pint. |
13 Feb 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Very sociable, quiet Sunday evening.
BrewDog - Edge | 3.20 | | Wow! So much flanour for just 3.2%. Licquorice and burnt caramel in this dark bitter. Despite the low ABV, not a session beer. This beer epitonises the art of excellent craft brewing. |
10 Feb 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Usual quiet atmosphere at this time of the evening.Friendly local clientele start to arrive at about 7:00 o'clock.
Wyre Piddle - Polar Piddle | 4.20 | | A medium coloured, medium bodied, unexeptional but pleasant beer. Difficult to define any outstanding tastes other than to say that this has a medium beer taste. |
08 Feb 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
My visit was in the early evening when the pub was quiet. Nevertheless, there is always somebody to talk to with friendly, helpful staff on hand or just to sit and have a quiet pint and reflect on the day gone by. Like most pubs, the Last Inn does get busy later at night and later in the week.
Oakham - Bishops Farewell | 4.60 | | A full bodied, tasty bitter ale with a strong hint of citrus (in particular grapefruit). Always consistently good. If you are tasting several ales, leave this one till last because you probably will not taste much else after this has wrestled with your taste buds. Excellent. |
Stonehouse - Cambrian Gold | 4.20 | | A pleasant tasting, full bodied, smooth beer. |
Oakham - Chaos Engine | 4.10 | | Many of Oakham's ales are similar in taste and this tasted like a weaker version of the excellent Bishops Farewell. Fortunately Bishops Farewell was also available, so perhaps Chaos Engine would have been more acceptable in its absence. |
Exmoor - Dark | 4.20 | | A dark, thin beer with hints of chocolate and burnt caramel. Not enough body for my liking. |
