Comfortable, but not really busy for a Friday evening.
Marston's - Long Hop | 4.00 | | A seasonal brew for the month of August. A light refreshing beer. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
03 Jun 2010 (ChrisE)
The pub was very busy, this place is obviously becoming very popular. There were only two cask ales on, and we had the last of the Banks's Mild. We were informed that two beers brewed for the World Cup would be ready, and on sale the next day.
Banks's - Banks's (aka Original) | 3.50 | | The very end of the cask, but in superb condition. We would have had more if there had been any available. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50
11 May 2010 (Magnus Greel)
A welcome break from unpacking was needed after moving into my new house yesterday so decided to make the 5 minute trot across the road and join ChrisE in my new local.
Burtonwood - Top Hat Premium Bitter | 4.80 | | Ditto ChrisE's comment. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
Banks's - Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried

A good friend of mine had just moved in to a house very close to this pub, and he invited me join him here for some refreshment. This pub appears to be doing very well, and the beers were in good condition, a pity about the tight sparklers though.
Burtonwood - Top Hat Premium Bitter | 4.80 | | We all agreed that this was a very enjoyable pint. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
Banks's - Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried
27 Apr 2010 (ChrisE)
I came here for lunch. Reasonably busy, but food service was slow, so I had a second pint while I was waiting for the food to arrive.
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50
Marston's - Dragons Tale | 4.50
24 Mar 2010 (ChrisE)
Surprisingly busy for a Wednesday evening. Mostly families and groups of people enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. There were leaflets promoting cask ale week at the bar.
Banks's - Banks's (aka Original) | 3.50 | | A good session beer, which seems to be going back to its proper name of Mild in current publicity from the brewery. A refreshing pint that I would have preferred without a very tight sparkler. |
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Paddy's Tout | 4.30 | | Dark beer with coffee caramel taste. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50
14 Feb 2010 (Ian)
Came for lunch with my mother and sister. Pretty decent burger and my mother's gammon steak was excellent.
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Dirty Tackle | 4.00 | | I think is good. Doesn't taste like a Wychwood beer, but good malts and clean finish. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
Banks's - Banks's (aka Original) | 3.50 | Not Tried
27 Dec 2009 (Ian)
Came here for lunch. Never had a bad pint here.
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Bah Humbug! (superseded by 4.3% version) | 4.80 | | Had a couple and it's an ok darkish malty bitter. |

Marston's - Ugly Sisters | 4.50 | Not Tried
09 Dec 2009 (Trevor)
Quite busy as I went with my wife for a lunchtime meal which was once again good value.
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Bah Humbug! (superseded by 4.3% version) | 4.80 | | Very smooth, rich brown ale, much to my liking. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried

10 Nov 2009 (Trevor)
Fairly quiet when I arrived with my wife and an ex-colleague and his wife at 12:30 for our meal which was very good in quality and price. It was very busy when we left 90 minutes later.
Marston's - Ploughmans | 4.60 | | It was clear and very drinkable amber ale. |
Marston's - Pedigree | 4.50 | Not Tried
Marston's - Wychwood Hobgoblin IPA (was Ruby Beer, was Hobgoblin) | 4.50 | Not Tried
Marston's - Powder Cask | 4.10 | Not Tried
