I had a voucher for a free Bells whisky which expired today. It seemed a shame to waste it, so I came here and had a few beers as well.

Quite busy when we came for our lunch with our friends. On offer was the main menu, 2 main courses for £10 and a main course and sweet for £5.75 . We choose to try the latter and had value for money. The service was good and staff friendly.

About 15:30 on a Monday afternoon, and the place was almost deserted, but it was starting to fill up by the time that we left.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Pedigree4.50GoodO.K. but nothing special.
Marston's - Long Hop4.00GoodA bit spicy, not really what I was expecting.
Banks's - Bitter3.80AcceptableTasted a bit tired, possibly end of cask.
25 Jul 2011 (Trevor)
Following a chance meeting of an ex-colleague and his wife at a garden centre we ended up having a 2 for £10 main course meal with them at this nearby hostelry. The place was fairly busy and we enjoyed our food. The service was good too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Cherry Picker4.20GoodStrong glace cherry flavour for this rather dry tasting ale.

Just finished a run of day shifts so was thirsty and popped into my local to see what was on, was fairly busy so had to wait a few minutes for my 1st pint.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Paddy's Tout4.30GoodNot my normal type of beer but the Pedigree was off and I fancied something stronger than Mild, so opted for this. Smooth chocolate flavour with a hint of oxo aftertaste so have stuck with it and its rather enjoyable.
Marston's - Pedigree4.50Not TriedNot on, unfortunately.

Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Paddy's Tout4.30GoodDecent roasry dark beer and a hell of a lot better than draught Guinness these days

Fairly busy in the restaurant areas at lunchtime when I visited with my wife, an ex-colleague and his wife. The meal was good and atmosphere friendly.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Banks's - Mild3.50GoodA malty and hoppy ale.
Marston's - Pedigree4.50Not Tried
Banks's - Mansfield Old Baily4.80Not TriedThey were out of this which was a pity as I was hoping to try it.

I'd been cycling around bits of Ashford so I was in need of refreshment. Fairly busy Sunday. Never had an issue with beer quality here I must admit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Wicked Witch4.60AcceptableNow only 4.2% down from the original 4.6% ABV. It's a dark brown best bitter with some sting on the finish. Fine if unremarkable.
