Visits Details

23 Apr 2013 (Ray)
Busy. Excellent service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Batemans - Good George Pacific Pearl5.50ExcellentSmooth rich malts. Bit more from the hops and this could have been my first 5* of the year.
Adnams - Devils Backbone American Amber4.80GoodStrange but depth of flavour improved as the glass was emptied.
18 Apr 2013 (McGargle)
Although busy the service speedy and friendly. Top marks to the duty staff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hawkshead - American Red4.20Good
Banks's - Vasileostrovsky Siberian Red6.00Good
Shepherd Neame - Central City Red Racer IPA6.50Acceptable
11 Apr 2013 (McGargle)
Busy but quick pleasnt service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - New World Pale Ale4.00GoodGood malt and hops but too subtle. Flavours needed to be more upfront.
Banks's - Cereal Thriller4.00AcceptableSlightly strange grainy flavour. Where were the hops?
Hilden - Number Four4.40AcceptableNondescript brown beer.
04 Apr 2013 (McGargle)
Most tables full. Quick, friendly service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Batemans - Good George Pacific Pearl5.50ExcellentWith an extra couple of days conditioning the supple malts were even better. Silky smooth hints of chocolate and coffee. Dry finish. With a bit more from the hops this would have easily been 5*.
WharfeBank - Spring Hop4.30AcceptableBit thin; bit dull. Slightly grainy.
31 Mar 2013 (McGargle)
Busy. Quick friendly service.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Batemans - Good George Pacific Pearl5.50GoodAlmost black with long lasting white head. Smooth, supple and rich malt body overlaid with limited fruity NZ hops.
28 Mar 2013 (Ray)
Busy. Only two staff seemed to be serving so service was slow.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mordue - Workie Ticket4.50AcceptableCompetent old school dark brown best bitter.
17 Mar 2013 (McGargle)
Very quiet early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Irish Red4.50GoodNicely hopped red ale. Quite dry and bitter finish.
Adnams - Broadside4.70AcceptableI remember this as having some depth of flavour. Not tonight though. Maybe 2* really.
14 Mar 2013 (Ray)
Busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Acorn - Blonde4.00PoorThin bodied. Surprised to find some smokey flavours: not much else.
19 Feb 2013 (McGargle)
Quiet.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Summerskills - Tamar4.30GoodWell crafted, standard best bitter.
14 Feb 2013 (Ray)
Walked in and walked out. Unusually, every free table (and there were plenty) was piled high with empty glasses and dirty plates.
